In south London, Kirstie helps nervous first-time buyers Adam and Nicole, while Phil pulls out all the stops to find Kat the right fit for her million-pound budget.

Ooo I’ve met Kat through work, she has a fantastic reputation.

Turmerictolly · 22/05/2024 20:17

Missed the first bit, what does she do? £1.2 million is a healthy budget but Greenwich is pricey.

MurielThrockmorton · 22/05/2024 20:17

She works in risk management I think they said.

Turmerictolly · 22/05/2024 20:22

The young couple could do much better than this first property. It's not a great area. Amazing how they've managed to save so much.

Meredusoleil · 22/05/2024 20:32

Love love love this second house for the FTBs. I would buy it!

Turmerictolly · 22/05/2024 20:36

Loved the Brixton Hill house, it was so nicely done but the area can't match Greenwich.

Meredusoleil · 22/05/2024 20:39

Like this Earlsfield house. Definitely better than that awful one with the bathroom on the ground floor!

Turmerictolly · 22/05/2024 20:49

Yes that was lovely too but what an eyesore at the back. Totally overlooked.

It's impressive savings.

But over 12 years it's £4k per annum each. Assuming no rent to pay (as living with parents), then it's doable.

The Earlsfield place was overlooked but you found grow stuff up the fence to make more private.

Wasn't sure what that held room was? Assume a very low height? It was hard to work out.

But she says she'd knock all bedrooms through to make a massive 1 bed. Which seemed nuts -though I guess guests could stay in the "study"

LadyEloise1 · 24/05/2024 09:08

Kat was inspirational, to have had a "knock" like cancer and then go on to row across the Atlantic and make a record of it - the fastest female trio to race it.
Some woman !
I'm glad she found a home in her favourite location.

I thought the first house for the couple had such potential. There was a really wide site at the side of it and they could in time extend out there and do a lot with it and it had a sunny back garden.
They could grow into it rather than grow out of the house if they had children.
But I have no idea what the area is like.
The one they liked but didn't get was mid terrace.

ABirdsEyeView · 24/05/2024 11:19

I think the young couple have y move faster if they expect to get a house in that market. They saw something which was perfect for them - even had the building in the garden they wanted. The sensible thing rule have been y make an asking price offer here and then and get it off the market. People buying in the south of London don't really have the luxury of mulling it over and getting their parents' opinions etc.

purpleme12 · 24/05/2024 14:37

God it was quite unexpectedly emotional at the end

purpleme12 · 24/05/2024 14:40

Does anyone remember what jobs the couple had?

burnoutbabe · 24/05/2024 14:42

He was a pe teacher

Meredusoleil · 24/05/2024 15:07

And she worked in administration at the same school he taught PE at I think.

MurielThrockmorton · 24/05/2024 15:13

Finance assistant?

londonmummy1966 · 24/05/2024 21:24

Did anyone else notice that the Earlsfield house had what looked like a river running through between a pair of brick walls alongside it - I wouldn't want that next to my foundations.

Just catching up on this series. I stopped watching Lx3 a while back but the last one came on after keeping the TV on channel 4 as I was doing other things. I am signed off work at the moment and so watched episode 2 on catch-up. I live in Leeds and have watched episodes before in Leeds. The area the house is said to be in has been 'somewhat stretching boundaries'. I remember one guy wanting to live in Horsforth being shown a house in Bramley, just off the Ring Road, next to the McDonalds drive thru and a petrol station (not mentioned or shown). It was a lovely old terrace and so of course everyone would be shouting he was an idiot to turn it down.

I was immediately pissed off by the stats at the beginning about Leeds being cheap to buy in compared to the national average. There are swathes of back-to-backs in certain areas which drag the average down. Nothing wrong with that but on LLL they always want to buy in bloody Horsforth, Chapel Allerton which are pricey and overrated in my opinion.

I would also have chosen Farsley over Kirkstall (I admit living near to Farsley). It is so easy to get into Leeds/Bradford and to the motorways and has such a lovely village feel without too much gentrification. There is loads going on- Sewing Bee is filmed in the converted mills and the canal is on the doorstep. Kirkstall is so mixed and parts are quite rundown. It is on the edge of student areas, has no real centre and traffic wise can be a nightmare.

The properties the other couples were shown seemed to be on new build estates with nothing nearby. You could hear motorway traffic (guessing M62) from one of them. I would not have wanted to live in any of them either.

Yes I noticed that too.

burnoutbabe · 25/05/2024 07:23

I have tried to find that block of flats -looking in Rightmove for stuff ON the river wandle that flows through Earlsfield but can't see anything to rent or buy that matches that block (normally someone is moving in/out these buildings)

IPartridge · 27/05/2024 14:08

Just caught up on the latest episode. Kat seems like an amazing woman, and loved her style too. I'd really like to see an update on that one when she's made the changes.

lollipoprainbow · 28/05/2024 08:49

Did anyone notice a slight frisson between Kat and Phil.

Yeah, I thought that. I wondered how his wife felt watching it.
