This 'mews' house is not nice imho. Nor is the street!

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:21

Really don't like the way you enter through the garage 😯

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:37

Loved that new build house! I don't think this Asian couple seem like serious buyers.

cyclamenqueen · 15/05/2024 20:38

Will the couple with the three children ever smile, they look miserable frankly .

I think they are thinking too much with their head, but asking for the 'feeling' without tuning into their hearts!

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:40

No no no - young couple go back to the other house that you loved!

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:43

This house is good, but still prefer the new build.

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:45

The balcony and views are very good.

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:54

What did I tell you? Not serious buyers from the start!

Meredusoleil · 15/05/2024 20:57

Less bedrooms so the 3 girls still have to share?!? Wtaf 🙄

ABirdsEyeView · 15/05/2024 20:58

Couple with the 3 kids are pissing me off - so miserable and impossible to please. That last house was gorgeous! They don't deserve to find a house! Poor Phil - he did a cracking job

cyclamenqueen · 15/05/2024 21:01

I thought Phil looked really cheesed off this week, he didn’t have a hope . Even Kirsty looked non plussed by them .

I agree. I think he could see they had no intention of buying anywhere. Like I said right from the start.

ABirdsEyeView · 15/05/2024 21:10

I also thought they were selfish making their 3 kids share a room so dad could have an office all to himself - when my dh worked from home and our house was small he set up a desk space in our bedroom, so our kids could have the bedrooms.
With a 400k budget, they could afford a garden pod or an extension. So far they've wasted 3 years 'looking'!

Couldn't agree more. Plus the excuses they were giving for not buying that last house like there wasn't enough parking and the garden wasn't child friendly! Priorities people, priorities 😬

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they keep an eye on that house and if there are no buyers and they drop the asking price, they take that opportunity to pounce and snap it up at a lower price.

I hope it sells for above asking price to serve them right tbh.

Turmerictolly · 15/05/2024 21:21

Suki seemed joyless and I also thought it was selfish that a whole bedroom in their current home was taken up by his office. I think their expectations were unrealistic. They don't have the budget unfortunately for what they want so will have to compromise.

Good to see some relatively 'normal' budgets though.

RonSwansonsChair · 15/05/2024 21:57

I thought that young couple were lovely, and while I would have preferred house no.4 I can see that they loved no.3 and went with their hearts. So happy for them.

The family were ridiculously picky, they'll never find a house.

LadyEloise1 · 16/05/2024 00:06

I thought the young couple were mad to buy the house they did.
It lacked a back garden and at one point you could see a washing line in the front of one of the houses nearby.
The bigger, longer term house had a south west facing garden.

The other couple were very downbeat - well the wife certainly was.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2024 10:09

Just watching now as had red king and gathering last night

Agree the teachers are miserable and never smile !!

Even Phil said they never look excited 😂

New builds usually have small gardens

Turmerictolly · 16/05/2024 10:16

Yes I thought the young couple should have considered a property with a back garden really but I guess it was a bit 'adult' for their stage of life. The property they chose seemed to suit their needs for now plus it was their preferred area. Given the costs of properties and moving, I'm surprised they didn't jump as far ahead on the ladder as possible. They probably didn't want to get into another bidding war.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2024 11:05

Agree no garden seemed weird to me

But I love the sun so if nice I want to be able to sit out and read a book and have lunch etx

Yes girls can share a bedroom

Wtf

That's why they haven't moved

I can’t understand why Kirsty didn’t encourage the younger couple to go for house 4 unless they were told by the EA that there was no way it would go for anywhere near 450. In the early years she always encouraged people to go for their second house not their first, if they could stretch to it, to avoid having to move in a couple of years. I always had that approach to house buying too.

You we’re all very prescient in knowing the older couple were not serious buyers - I too can’t believe they use a bedroom for an office and make 3 girls share.

As I watched it, when Kirsty and Phil were discussing how many people are now moving house / flat in order to get WFH space, I thought how ironic it is that huge corporations have gotten their workforce to take on the cost of providing workspace for them, whilst pretending to said workforce that it is such a bonus to WFH that they definitely don’t deserve a pay increase, and might even see their pay reduced. It seems the corporate world always wins.

ABirdsEyeView · 16/05/2024 16:08

I guess people save on commuting costs. And what they spend on their own houses, is at least their own asset.
People don't always need dedicated office rooms - it's a nice to have but there are work arounds, especially if you do have a bit of cash.

Another thing that irritated me about the family with the 3 kids is that they seemed incapable of realising that features in a house can be changed - that a non child friendly paved garden can have the paving removed and grass put down. They seemed to lack any imagination.

Thought Kirsty was mad in thinking the first townhouse was nice. "Just get that giant hedge removed", she says Grin. Yep because it's dead cheap and easy to get leylandi taken out. Especially if it's in someone else's garden, as that looked to be!

RonSwansonsChair · 16/05/2024 17:01

I thought that too about the hedge @ABirdsEyeView - wasn't it a shared garden? So unlikely they could just do what they wanted.
They were the weirdest houses I've ever seen... enter through the garage and the 3rd "bedroom" barely fitted a desk let alone a bed!
It would be so hard to sell on.
