I was appalled by Ellie, although I do say now that something about her didn't sit well with me right from the start. ALL she wanted was a family and so often that kind of a quest means that the guy she ends up with is little more than a means to an end.

Given his behaviour last night, and his throwaway comment at the Vows 'Free at Last' which really jarred at the time tbh, he was already balls deep in Ellie or planning to be.
I think the comment a PP here made about his being too angry as a young man and now being super calm DOES seemingly indicate that he was pretending to be nice, and now his mask has slipped.
Ellie is also clearly a very unpleasant woman too, to do that, to behave like that to someone who has only ever stood up for her is beyond awful. She will come a cropper with Johnno,
