I did like Roisin's but it was not really suitable for a lot of male celebs. As another poster said if the guest judge had been someone other than SEB would they have loved it so much.

Ben's was awful. Even on the tv that brightness of all that white made me feel like I was likely to get a migraine. Also, as everyone has said, totally impractical. It would be filthy in no time

Zebracat · 25/04/2024 11:22

I wonder if they are asked to think about stuff like fire retardancy and cleanability. Bens design was an accident waiting to happen and those stick on tiles really gave me the ick. In some ways this was a repeat of the boxes at the races and Ben made exactly the same mistakes. Matt does listen to criticism, so I think he will take it on. Michelle said this week that they are like a school of interior design, and I would agree, the programme should be called Interior design school, not masters.

I still Mainain matt is an interror designer and roisin is a room dresser. He considers the space, the lighting, function and so on. She just picks colours that work together. She has a good eye for bold and bright colours, but i suspect she would struggle to really change a room, other than with floral paper. He talks about proportions, the end user, thinks about the practicalities and so on. His dressing room just needed dressing, then I think it would have blown hers out of the water. To me, he's the only winner as he's the only interior designer. But, if, as someone as said the prize is to design some crockery, roisin will win.

Edited

Completely agree with all of that.

MichaelAndEagle · 25/04/2024 21:59

You would hire Matt if you were a hotel chain or for a job like the dressing rooms, or corporate boxes in real life, where you want clever design, slight luxury, will appeal to most people.

You would hire Roisin if you like the maximalist style and wanted your house done in that style. Its hard to do well.

I would call both things interior design actually. Certainly Sophie Robinson calls herself an interior designer and runs interior design courses and does much the same. Colour, pattern, furniture, lighting can all change an interior dramatically.

I live very close to so will try to get a snoop!

I disagree with this. I don't think Matt really considered how the spaces would be used in the dressing room. The curtains he hung up at the wall did nothing and just looked ridiculous. He did the decoration in the make up area well but it didn't carry through to making the rest of the space work. I don't think he is any more of an"interior designer" than Roisin. She thought about the space and provided privacy and comfort, she didn't just throw colour at it.

They are different designers you'd hire for different jobs depending on what style you want.

LadyEloise1 · 26/04/2024 19:00

I agree the curtains Matt had hung in his dressing room were a bit daft.

Netaporter · 30/04/2024 08:36

It’s T minus 11.5 hours until the final 🥳

Roisin has chosen Jess (and they both seem to have come dressed as CBeebies presenters) and Matt has chosen Anthony to work with.

On paper, we know who are the stronger couple, but will it go the way we think?

Clip here. Aww you at 8pm with the tipple of your choice!

So Matt will have a dark border around the windows and Roisin will have some OTT wallpaper....

Good luck to both

NigelHarmansNewWife · 30/04/2024 16:36

There's room for both of them and Ben tbh. Interior designers do get known for their different styles - e.g. Kelly Hoppen, LLB, Linda Barker.

I think the edit is probably designed to show their differences too.

Looking forward to tonight and hope Matt wins.

Madcats · 30/04/2024 20:08

Those "lodges"!

Hepzibar · 30/04/2024 20:29

Thanks @GrouchyKiwi

Guys, I am jumping in to see if anyone can help please?

I am pretty positive it was one of the guy designers who basically took a standard wall light, cut off the wiring, and used something to basically transform it into a battery operated, moveable, light that didn't need wiring in.

Can anybody tell me which designer, and which episode please??

NB - there is a chance I'm on the wrong programme entirely mind - I may be mixing it up with The Big Interior Battle on C4! 🤦‍♀️😁 If I am though, same questions please

littleducks · 20/05/2024 17:02

I thought that was a Stacey Dooley programme, they chopped off cables then used rechargeable "bulbs"

Stacey Solomon.

It was an episode of her decluttering programme .... I'm sure it was one with an Asian family where the mother had loads of saris.

The post by LittleDucks triggered the memory of Stacey showing the daughter what they'd done and how it worked so I remembered the family.

iPlayer has a little picture of the family with Stacey for each episode - my memory is good but it's not that good! 😂😂
