@Twonewcats I've noticed this a few times, there was a commitment ceremony recently where the camera cut away from John and he kept talking, but it was so obvious it was an old sound bite and not something he was saying at the time. I've noticed it a few other times where you hear someone speaking but they're off camera... it's audio from a different time/place altogether

mcmen05 · 03/04/2024 22:33

Getting so bored of Jack and Tori.
Tori would probably have been more successful to stay friends with the girls than sticking up for all his crap.
Can we have next Thread called Don't talk about Jack and Tori (,ha ha)

It's his top teeth I have a fascination either but reminds me of the fake tiles you used to get (maybe still?) in a string to tile walls but never looked quite natural. But like a uni-tooth. And I can't recall seeing his bottom teeth as the top set are just shining out there. 🌹

No his teeth remind me of when you used to put a strip of chewing gum across your top teeth so they looked like they were all one piece..

I don't think Timothy should have brought up the whale comment in front of the whole group. He did it to add to the attacks on Jack, but didn't seem to care how awful it was making Tristan feel. Tristan looked so uncomfortable - and I'm not sure he'd even heard it when it was actually said, so Timothy could have dealt with it privately to Jack and left Tristan unaware.

Tristan seemed aware of it when it was mentioned. And Tim didn't say it was aimed at Tristan, he said it was said as he walked past Tris, Tim/Lu and Jonno

Yep, I've seen that too.
But this was more than that - it was the entire exchange between them as opposed to a comment

TinselAngel · 03/04/2024 23:29

My last ex used to talk about "the type of woman who tries to get you into a fight", and Sara is definitely one of them.

browneyes77 · 04/04/2024 00:11

Twonewcats · 03/04/2024 22:08

Interesting point I noticed! (Or not interesting, probably) ---

Eden was telling Jayden about Sara's text (yawn).
This chat was intertwined with Sara saying to Tim "It's crazy how quickly things change" or something.
Tim replied, Sara replied, and I think Tim replied again.

However, NOT ONE of their sentences were said on screen. We heard Sara talk while Tim nodded on screen, and vice versa, iyswim? It was almost like a voice-over.

In other words, that chat between them could have taken place weeks ago, and could have been about anyone, but the producers edited it into here as they liked how it added to the drama.

My point being, of course we all know it's dramatised and edited, but it hadn't occurred to me that they'd possibly use very old conversations to imply something totally different.

I’ve heard so many MAFS contestants say afterwards that some of the responses they show aren’t even the actual responses at the time and are responses from other parts of a conversation.
And the production team just splice it altogether to create more drama.

In the commitment ceremony the group reactions seem to be copied/pasted a lot. Last week Cass made exactly the same reacted expression (twisty mouth) during several different couples interviews.

JellyBeanFactory · 04/04/2024 00:23

Definitely a lot of word manipulation!

Why does Tim say 'My wife' like the creepy thing in the League of Gentlemen'?

Papa Lazarou, didn’t Bryce from a few years ago keep doing that?

HELLO DAVE

effoffwind · 04/04/2024 06:25

Oh gosh Timothy's "Unitooth "

You lot crack me up , have a good day all , away to serve the tax man

MagpiePi · 04/04/2024 08:48

Something I’ve been wondering about is this.
Sara and Tim said they needed that time at the retreat for them to just relax (lol) together and reconnect, so what were they doing while they were in Sydney?

How much time do they all actually spend with their partners at the apartments? And how do they all fill their days? Do some the ones who own their own business get to do any work? I think I’d go mad living like that! Also, do they get an allowance for food/clothes/decorating the apartment/ going on dates etc

Skiphopbump · 04/04/2024 09:29

@MagpiePi I’m pretty sure that someone said they get a $200 allowance every day. Michael and Stephen did a publicity shoot so I wonder if they all spend time doing shoots and interviews.

Izzy24 · 04/04/2024 09:45

Is it just me or does this series seem to be far more edited/manipulated/repeated content than past series?

I’m just not enjoying it as much this year. It doesn’t seem as tho most of the people are there because they are genuinely wanting a partner, far more about the air time.

Love watching Lauren though.

Ben got a load of stick for what, reading between the lines, was "disappearing" for a dentist's appointment, whereas Sara has given the impression of quietly coming and going as she pleases for the entire season and that's been fine.

A few series ago they showed a lot more of them going about day today (not sure if there were more episodes or if it was to particularly highlight the differences between the two twins' relationships in that series

Yes I think it's gone the way of Big Brother for me - they're just getting in people who have insta/sm followings and lots of filler (god knows why, it's not like they need to do this to find people who want love) which means they get to pick "crazy" characters who all look the same for "drama". Why can't these production companies ever leave psychological 'docu' series alone? Women study psychology far more than men and we actually want to see real people dealing with real situations - it's why we love True Crime! They always insist on turning it into some Daily Mail/The Sun type bunfight which takes away from finding love and makes it the equivalent of a primary school fight with no meaning.

You don't get to see them other than getting ready for or at the dinner parties/committment ceremonies, doing some tasks set by the ixperts, at the friends and family meets, opinions to camera or having short but relevant conversations. They don't even seem to be showing them going on dates. Maybe that's why it feels a bit boring and they have to ramp up any bits of gossip to create drama.

As PPs have said, it does feel very manufactured and highly edited. I can't see why anyone would go on it if they truly wanted to find a life partner considering how few of the couples actually stay together.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 04/04/2024 11:10

Yes I miss seeing the couples out and about on dates or at the beach (nice chance to see more beautiful shots of Australia), they seemed to go out for more walks in the park. Also Tori said she had sacrificed her career for this so had she given up her job? Or do they all go on extended leave.

Twonewcats · 04/04/2024 11:11

yep, earlier series seemed to imply that they were with each other all the time - but they don't seem to be this year.

Also, every year it winds me right up that they can all chat and mingle off air/with no cameras at all, so we don't actually have evidence of anything - we just have to take their word for it, and if they disagree we have no way of knowing what went down (so to speak)

DaftFlerken · 04/04/2024 11:44

I'm so glad I was wrong & it wasn't Ridge & Jade as I hope they make it.
Love the Timothy & Tristan relationship & how delighted Tristan was with his matching hoodie
Feel for Eden, I wonder if she has had less air time due to having social anxiety

Floyd45 · 04/04/2024 14:16

Should be a good episode tonight - looking forward to seeing Sara get her come uppance - what a bitch!

I think Eden was genuinely scared to bring it up as she is afraid of Sara and a potential "mean girls" pile on...but she knows how Jayden feels about cheating so not bringing it up would have meant he thought less of her. I actually like Jayden (overlooking his "confession" which was vile)....he's a bit tactless but his heart is in the right place.

murasaki · 04/04/2024 14:36

Timothy and Tristan have the most genuine relationship in there, I hope it lasts.
