So SouthWest Ben has the Starter, who will win Fish, Mains and Dessert…? Will there be fighting over the freezer? How many more flames and medals will the judges have to pretend to be surprised by?

Hello and thank you @Sunbird24 for the shiny new thread!

Glad that Ben won through to get the starter. It really looked impressive enough to start the banquet. DH referred to Kirk's starter as the Maggoty Dish.

Hopefully we won't have blast chiller wars this week.

BiliousOhGod · 19/03/2024 16:46

I don't know - some of the dishes are so awful, it might give everyone something else to talk about.... How many times can Tom say something along the lines of "It was a million times better than before, but it's still shit."?

lazarusb · 19/03/2024 16:50

I'm sure that Kirk's starter tasted nice but it really didn't look appetising. I think Kirk will be a shoe in for dessert.

Looking forward to the fish and main courses.

Persipan · 19/03/2024 17:12

It would be fab if Kirk does win the dessert, given it's not the 'vegan course'. Would be a real achievement.

Dontsparethehorses · 19/03/2024 18:11

I agree- I wonder if Kirk winning any other course would actually mean more to him? Especially his fish free fish dish which I think has a really good chance!!

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2024 18:15

Isn’t it annoying that so many chefs have got to this stage with that amount of room for improvement in some dishes? Especially given the really great dishes that aren’t here this week because of the whole regions format. I do wonder if they’ll rethink it for next year or write it off as a blip…

Just caught up. Thought carrot lady was properly improved. But Ben and Mr Plant based were as far ahead as they seemed from the other winners.

Bobbybobbins · 19/03/2024 19:34

I feel like a broth is something you should eat when ill not at a banquet. Love the dish that won.

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2024 21:02

Andi’s in chainmail, ready to do battle!

Evening.
Wondering if food truck lady will be last every course.

Oh I really enjoyed Ellie in the first episode she should become resident veggie judge:

EsmaCannonball · 19/03/2024 21:04

We all know that Ellie did the best fish course and she isn't even there. I found the vegan fish course intriguing. I think they should troll the French with vegan fish.

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2024 21:06

Kate’s added blue pasta? It looked like she was rolling out a flannel then for some reason

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 19/03/2024 21:06

I thought it was denim shorts

EsmaCannonball · 19/03/2024 21:07

Oh no, it's the 'rainbow trout for LGBTQ+ Paralympian swimmers' most painfully tenuous link dish.

littlbrowndog · 19/03/2024 21:07

That man is so snarky

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2024 21:08

Corrin telling Kate she’s highly strung gives me misogynist vibes đŸ¤”

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 19/03/2024 21:08

She did not find it banter at all

Pastachocolate · 19/03/2024 21:08

Tom Kerridge should just sit this out so that all the chefs just need to do one dish and the judging is equal- would be so wrong if the best fish didn’t get through because the non allergy version wasn’t as good (when the other judges aren’t scoring the non allergy version).

EsmaCannonball · 19/03/2024 21:09

Ooh, tension. Did you see her gritted teeth as she hugged him? She wanted to be holding a knife as she patted him repeatedly on the back.

I thought Corrin was professional and helpful in the heats, but very arrogant. Kate was in the South East heats where they were all very passive aggressive about each other.

littlbrowndog · 19/03/2024 21:10

They decided not to edit out his nasty snark

jay55 · 19/03/2024 21:11

Pinching Ellie's cosy idea

EsmaCannonball · 19/03/2024 21:11

This has better be terrible to save Mrs Ben's Mum from knitting 120 cloche covers on her days off.

OnTheBoardwalk · 19/03/2024 21:11

didnt realise it started Monday so am playing catch up. Did Kirk really take a handful of 'worms' put them to his mouth then flicked the rest of them back into the worm pile??

Not a winner for Ben

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2024 21:12

Ben won’t mind too much I reckon…
Missed that @OnTheBoardwalk!
