I totally get why the producers want older actors to play teenagers as employing under 18s involves teachers on set, chaperones, restricted hours especially for night shoots and early mornings. Which is probably why you see other children like Raymond, Annie or Stacey's younger two so infrequently. But it's a bit much to expect that the audience will accept that those two girls are in the same year at school.

So I missed a few episodes! I get the six have set up dean for murder and planted evidence but what motivation would he have had

@Misthios As a formerly small, skinny and underdeveloped 12-year-old, I don't see the same disconnect between the two. I felt nearly everyone in my class was several inches taller and about ten years more worldly than bookish little prepubescent me.
@cadygal257 There was supposed to have been some kind of previous argument between Dean and Keanu, witnessed by many and largely forgotten by viewers. By me, at any rate. As motivation for murder, it's flimsy.

Dean didn't even sound convincing to himself that he was innocent ! He was almost a bit resigned to it all I thought. I guess most prisoners say they are not guilty , so it's all on deaf ears in there anyway I suppose despite the lack of motive. They have some ' evidence ' on the meat thermometer. Lola Campbell who plays Britney was born in either 2010 or 2011 which makes her 13-14. I think she looks like a young teen when Lexi very much still looks and talks like a child.

They have got it spot on with Britney though.
She's a neglected child and often addict parents remove normal childhood by "parentification"
The children have to take care of themselves, siblings and parents.
They develop age inappropriate independence and probably have been exposed to drugs, sex, neglect and violence at a young age.
Lexi is a well cared for child in contrast

Not sure why Zack took off his jacket to shag/ snog/ whatever, Lauren in the well lit, open to any passer-by, alley.. removing a jacket is the last detail anyone would think off surely!?
