New drama for 3weeks on a Monday night

got a good cast imo

The official synopsis for the drama says that it "tells the story of an ordinary family caught up in an extraordinary chain of events that ripple out from their home town".

The synopsis continues: "Ambitious, powerful and surprising, The Way taps into the social and political chaos of today’s world by imagining a civil uprising which begins in a small industrial town.

"Fleeing unrest, The Driscolls are forced to escape the country they’ve always called home and the certainties of their old lives.

Will they be overwhelmed by their memories of the past, or will they lay their ghosts to rest and take the risk of an unknown future?

"The Way is an emotional and darkly humorous story about what it means to be faced with impossible choices."

The Way features an absolutely stacked cast, led by Steffan Rhodri (Gavin & Stacey (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/gavin-stacey-star-mathew-horne-cliffhanger-exclusive-newsupdate/)), Mali Harries (The Archers (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/soaps/the-archers-rob-titchener-dies-newsupdate/)), Sophie Melville (The Pact (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/pact-season-3-release-date/)) and Callum Scott Howells (It's a Sin (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/nathaniel-curtis-doctor-who-newsupdate/)).

Other actors who make appearances in the series include director Michael Sheen (

Best Interests review: Emotional drama walks an impressive tightrope | Radio Times

Jack Thorne's new drama Best Interests addresses the most delicate of subjects tactfully and is buoyed by two powerhouse performances.

Maybe it was supposed to be funny. It says something about ‘dark humour’ in a review. It’s interesting that I thought 2&3 were better - mainly because all the btec surveilance effects stopped dissecting the narrative.

What the hell have I just watched?! 😵‍💫 I had such high hopes for this and I'm South Wales born and bred so I felt obliged to see it through. DH (English living in Wales) found it hilarious, especially the Welsh-Catcher.

spiderlight · 25/02/2024 13:04

Just put my dog in her drying coat after a rainy walk and she looks as if she should be appearing mysteriously outside the steelworks 😂

I haven't read the thread as I've just started watching it, not sure I'm into it though, I'll be back 😊

OriginalFloorboards · 26/02/2024 08:24

Just watched episode one but I can safely say I’m on this thread purely for @spiderlight photos of her pooch!

More please!

spiderlight · 26/02/2024 10:42

Just for @OriginalFloorboards - I don't need much prompting to show off my girl!

Scrummy! Grown up with this breed of giddy kippers and adore them 😍

martinisforeveryone · 26/02/2024 16:30

Don't know why but for some reason this slipped through my net, might watch ep one later and see what I think.

diddl · 26/02/2024 17:18

I watched ep1 & really enjoyed it.

Started ep2 & felt as if I'd missed an ep/was watching a different programme!

Does it all come together/make sense?

Nope.

Episode one was clever and original.
2-3 seem like they where made by someone else

Glad it's not just me who thought this. What a load of old rubbish.

spiderlight · 26/02/2024 20:01

No, it just gets steadily weirder and sillier. We decided midway through ep 2 to treat it as a comedy, and that kind of helped, as did shouting at the telly when they had Merthyr Mawr dunes adjacent to the White Cliffs of Dover. The ending felt a bit like a Year 7 had written it because they'd run out of time, though. I do hope it's not meant to be a setup for another series.

martinisforeveryone · 26/02/2024 20:52

Best part through ep 1 and Dave Coaches is just having a really bad trip. There must be something else on that I can watch.

daffodilandtulip · 26/02/2024 20:59

Just watched episode one and I don't get it.

SloaneStreetVandal · 26/02/2024 21:30

Came to see if this was worth a look. I won't bother 😆

I did enjoy seeing @spiderlight's springer pics though, I love the brown noses and freckles! Beautiful girl (I have a springer boy) 🐶

declutteringonedayatatime · 26/02/2024 21:30

The Way.. or should it be called Lost Its Way? 🤣

duc748 · 26/02/2024 21:43

I've stuck with ep 2 hoping for comedy value, and, to be fair, there's been a few laughs so far. But feel like I've been watching it for a good hour, but I'm only half-way through.

feelingalittlehorse · 26/02/2024 21:57

What a shame that episode 2 didn’t follow suit to episode 1.

I thought episode one was absolutely genius- was so creepy and unsettling, with such a sense of foreboding.

Episode 2 just became another standard random drama.

feelingalittlehorse · 26/02/2024 22:00

Oh, I take it all back. The last few minutes were back to dystopian madness.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 26/02/2024 22:14

i liked it

duc748 · 27/02/2024 16:45

It's a terrible load of old tosh! Is it just the three eps? Could have easily lost some of the convos with Old Dead Dad, who I didn't care about at all, and the nightmare/withdrawal scenes. Nothing makes a lick of sense, and some of the acting (Thea!) was pretty ropey too.

Pigeon257 · 27/02/2024 18:19

The dead dad thing was weird. I'm surprised Michael Sheen didn't cast himself as the naked in the woods man 😂

ThreeFeetTall · 27/02/2024 22:30

I've watched it all, don't think it has finished on live TV so won't go it to it all but best thing for me was police officer daughters nicely cut non standard issue shirt, might post on style and beauty board about it later Grin
