Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas

Did anybody watch this?

What will you be making from it?

I might try the Christmas cup. And then eat some chips with mayonnaise on as a ‘post carousal carb’.

I loved it, more ham than a ham in Coke. Wish she'd aired earlier though as really liked the idea of ginger cake with advocaat cream.

I can’t bring myself to drink the Advocaat in the fridge, so using it up on a cake does sound very appealing!

The mussels looked good too but I'm too anxious to cook them, they'd be one safe mussel by time I'd scrutinised them. 😂

I love Nigella but I don't like those Northern European flavours, e.g. ginger, cinnamon, cloves, almonds. I can still watch and enjoy

Was watching this last night and had to switch it off. I found her interactions with people so awkward, like she couldn't figure out when she was supposed to speak. The over the top gestures when eating were way more unnatural than usual aswell. Did anyone else notice?

Yes she was a bit awkward with it.And the constant smirking.
I find her eating and wiping her mouth with the back of her hand a bit 'not in front of the camera' too.
But I'd love to make the ginger and advocate cake.
Do you really think she was on a boat ?
Or was it made to seem that way.....
Anyway..before you all accuse me of Nigella bashing..I enjoy her cooking

@Greenpolkadot it was as if she was a starving urchin tbh, not like she's savoring it. The innuendo with the people in shops too, it's going over their heads. Nothing is coming across the way she intends it to.

I love Nigella, the simplicity and the socializing theme to her food and how amazing she looks in such an achievable way but I'm not keen to watch more of that.

@RampantIvy I just followed your link. That is right up my street. Cosmopolitan is my favourite cocktail and I love Cointreau plus it's a good way to disguise Prosecco. Where's my jug?

@Davros I only liked the biryiani. I dislike mussels and am not keen on all the cinnamon and ginger Chrsitmas spices either. I love almonds though.

I have already bought the poinsettia ingredients. We first tried it years ago when I saw Nigella making it, and DD insists on it every Christmas.

I just had an afternoon of pointsettia, it is lovely although I might add some lime juice next time. I'm having a cuppa now, saving myself for later...
