I think Roy is having a nervous breakdown, and normal niceness will be resumed as soon as the writers have made their 'Artcers-as-Public-Information' point that men get post-natal depression too.

THey always use poor Roy as a dustbin for whatever sentiment they are currently pushing, e.g. the bolt-on rascism that he miraclously recovered from.
