Of course everything needs to be posted 3 times for emphasis.....

I like Wh less because he's Northern - I feel he should know better!

I'm afraid that I may have a problem with starting to like Tory politicians once they are out of the limelight. MP and WH being cases in point. I really thought I had purged the genetic tory inheritance out of my soul years ago .

Habbibu · 14/03/2008 15:54

well, that's true, seeker, that's true.

Ooh - we're friends with someone who's been teaching Billy Bragg lots of European history. He's apparently very nice and bright and thoughtful.

Harpsi, the floor is yours - don't listen to LL..

Ringworm · 14/03/2008 16:02

Matthew Paris and Emma Thingy were both really nice when they stopped being tories.

harpsichordcarrier · 14/03/2008 16:06

OK - well once upon a time (just after Major crashed and burned in 1997) a friend of mine (pretty high up in the Labour party )said that this bloke I had never heard of was about to be leader of the Conservatives and she knew this because this man (who I had never heard of) had just sacked his secretary (who was also his boyfriend) and made him clear his desk.
I said, don't be ridiculous, I have never heard of him! how could he be the next leader of the Tories!

bundle · 14/03/2008 16:08

is this about tories or archers?

seeker · 14/03/2008 16:09

Same thing, isn't it? I can't imagine there's a single Labour voter in Ambridge except Pat!

Habbibu · 14/03/2008 16:14

Most of Scotland is rural, LL - they haven't got much choice up here butto give a toss. Mind, we've got the SNP now, so both T and L are out...

Ringworm · 14/03/2008 16:14

I'm sure that Alan the Vicar votes Labour.

seeker · 14/03/2008 16:15

Jennifer - I fail to see why Brian should disadvantage his son in favour of her children. Third shares sounded fine to me - with the proviso perhaps that the unspellable one could only sell to Adam 'Moaning' Macy and Debbie 'Disappeared' Aldridge!

Ringworm · 14/03/2008 16:23

But that is twenty yers while Ruauauauaghghghgrriii is growing up during which Adam and Debbie will be hamstrung in their dealings on the farm.

'Shares of equal monetary value, but not equal shares in the farm!' That's my mantra.

If Brian lasts another 25 years though - making him what - late 80s so perfectly possible Adam will be at retirement age (for sensible people not farmers of course) and so he may be the one wanting cash whilst R (can't be arsed to look up the spelling) is all set to start his career - so this could be a very, very slowburner indeed!

beansmum · 14/03/2008 16:33

I think Jennifer is being totally unreasonable, esp threatening divorce. I can't see how that is going to help anyone. Either Adam and Debbie end up with even less of a share in the farm, max 1/4 each, or Brian changes his will again which will put a huge strain on their marriage. I understand her point of view but she is annoying with all her whinging and moaning and blackmail.

beansmum · 14/03/2008 16:34

and don't get me started on Roy

Habbibu · 14/03/2008 16:35

LL - I misread that as "get pissed and sell the farm" - had visions of Brian drunkenly handing over the deeds to some stranger in the Bull for the price of another pint. That would be a plot twist.
