I've met and worked with Sam in real life. He was polite and charming but in no way over the top and nothing like the way he is behaving in the jungle. This is all an act and he is performing for the cameras. I find it incredibly irritating but I expect he'll win.

Ahhh I suspected it was an act.

Tony to win but I don't mind if Nigel does.

itsgettingweird · 10/12/2023 06:57

Cyclone looked flatter this year - less of a hill to climb?!

itsgettingweird · 10/12/2023 07:01

JaneJeffer · 10/12/2023 00:25

The people voting for Farage are in cloud cuckoo land with all the talk of haters. I haven't seen one post on here from anyone saying they hate him or anyone getting all worked up.

Tony in them shorts though 😘

Those using the language "haters" don't even get a response from me. (Not you bye as you are just quoting them and I like your posts!)

It's such a SM tone of language and so lazy when you could use actual words to form an opinion.

I've liked Nigel on the whole but couldn't agree with his politics at any time 🤷‍♀️

Inkanta · 10/12/2023 07:02

Yes and there were no belly laughs with the cyclone at all. Ant and Dec were doing forced laughing😅

QueenOfThorns · 10/12/2023 07:06

Choux · 10/12/2023 02:14

It's a crazy amount to pay a politician who was hoping to grab the airtime and use it as a PR campaign for himself and therefore his party a year before a general election. He should have been paying them to get into camp! But the £1.5m fee is the fault of ITV for offering it, not Farage for accepting it.

To be fair, Nigel Farage does not appear to be affiliated to any particular political party currently, so I’m not sure what the general election has to do with it. I’m not really bothered if people support the left or right, as long as they do it in an informed manner and don’t just lap up lies that they’re fed. All the faux naive ‘he’s just a nice ordinary chap who wants to make our country a better place’ crap on these threads makes me fume Angry

WillowTit · 10/12/2023 07:54

oh no who shared the photo of nigel and tony in the shorts, i wanted to erase half of that picture from my mind,
but agree with Sam saying Tony in spandex! ha ha
yes, Tony is very tolerant of Sam,
interesting that Ant & Dec didnt ask Josie what she thought of Nigel

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/12/2023 08:14

Perhaps Sam feels he can be himself in there and not suppress his hyperactivity as he would in a professional role at work.

sep135 · 10/12/2023 08:33

I've started voting for Nigel. I think he's come across well and I don't think he deserves some of the utter vitriol that comes his way in the press and social media. (The Conservative Party are getting worried, judging by today's stories.)

I find Tony quite amusing in a deadpan way. Sam's constant playing up to get the airtime is irritating. I've watched MIC from the beginning (I'm embarrassed to say that's something like 25 seasons) and he was nothing like this.

He's a nice enough chap and would be fine if he toned down the OTT attention seeking stuff.

Nigel will possibly be 3rd. But it's so lush how all the frothing Farage haters have gone absolutely loco over him still being there.. 'I just cannot fathom WHY Nigel Farage is still there' they gasp in sheer horror. 'Everyone I know HATES him!!!' Not understanding that lots of people don't think like them. They only hang around with, and communicate with woke, left-wing, anti-Brexit people like themselves, and it just doesn't compute that ANYone would vote to keep Nigel in.

Many people voting for him are the silent majority. The ones who won't/don't speak up on the internet, for fear of being slaughtered, hung drawn and quartered, mocked and derided, and 'cancelled' for their non-lefty views. Same thing happened with Brexit and when the Conservatives kept winning elections. The lefties only speak to and communicate with people who think like them, and refuse to hear any other point of view, so they are totally gobsmacked when things don't go their (lefty) way. (Which is often!)

As I say, it's because many people think differently to them but keep quiet about their views. But then they vote, and the non-lefty side wins, and wins, and wins, and all the lefties are like...... WTF>??? Confused

It's so entertaining to watch. Grin

Like someone said on Twitter/X a while back...

The media controls the newspapers, the radio, the TV, magazines, the music industry, social media, the film industry, the art industry, and the arts in general.

It does not control the ballot boxes.

Well said.

I have heard it described as "the shy Tory phenomenon".

I quite like a political debate, but you can't have one in a forum. Anyone who doesn't hold "approved" views will slaughtered. I know, it happened to me, so now I don't join in. And the internet becomes an echo chamber. Much like the Westminster Bubble.

Meanwhile, over in real life......

Bloodyhellmate · 10/12/2023 08:50

Nigel has done well but I don't think it should be him that wins it. I think it should be Sam just because he absolutely loves it all and has shown nothing but delight and enthusiasm over everything.

Netaporter · 10/12/2023 08:56

@FreshWinterMorning i say this all lot. As long as Labour keeps chatting to itself about major issues it will be forever surprised by the outcome. (I compare this to when the dog surprises itself when he farts)

You do not bring about change without engaging with the people most likely to turn out and vote and to try to understand their point of view - even if you do not share it at all. You can’t change the perception the daily mail leaves on people without discrediting some of their claims. And The daily mail is the most read online newspaper.

If Nigel’s aim by participating was a job application, you’d have to say he’s done a pretty good interview. And I am not a Farage fan.

Or, when you worked with him he knew it was a work environment and he had to keep professional so what we are seeing is the real, relaxed Sam. It’s been 3 weeks, he’s not changed. You would have to be a superb actor to keep going for 3 full weeks.

awaynboilyurheid · 10/12/2023 09:13

Agree you’d be exhausted keeping up that pretence but instead he just looks very happy! I’ve taught children who are just like Sam and recognise a lot of his behaviours. Tony is so good with him too, he joined in then said right that’s enough now and that was it , it was finished.
Catching up glad Josie went she didn’t pull her weight enough for me.It’s well edited because she referred to a showdown but it obvs wasn’t shown.

shamelesss · 10/12/2023 09:20

just catching up, to a pp comment, I think they all look like they’ve lost a little weight but I do think they’ve had it a lot easier with eating this year, it seemed like every other day they were having some sort of treat, the hardest bit looked to be when they split the camps and the other camp lived on rice and beans

Inkanta · 10/12/2023 09:28

Yes I heard her mention the showdown with Fred - and then say ah wasn't it shown. Ant and Dec moved the conversation on and didn't answer. They used to show significant showdowns and confrontations. Obviously don't now.

WDTABNONONO · 10/12/2023 09:53

Created a new one as couldn't see one:

I'm a Celebrity! #8 - The Final www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4960201-im-a-celebrity-8-the-final

Choux · 10/12/2023 09:59

I think the producers are running the show:

Nella suddenly calms down and stops picking arguments with people - she then isn't first out
Fred is shown making a lot of comments when Josie is cooking - he makes an early exit.
Josie has a showdown with Fred but we never see that - she comes 4th.

Sam is probably being coached to be enthusiastic about everything - it looks good on the show if they shine a positive spotlight on ADHD. He's getting a favourable edit to try to help him win.
Tony is his buddy in there so gets a favourable edit as well.

Pushing Sam to win may also be tactical to try and stop Nigel winning which won't reflect so well on the show as an entertainment show. He is still the Honorary President of the Reform Party (formerly Brexit party) and I would think he's looking for a way to get back into a paid or more influential political role. Why else would he be trying to get 25% of the airtime? He wasn't just there for the large paycheque.

Tracker1234 · 10/12/2023 10:17

Sam is definitely playing up to the camera. Could you see yourself working alongside someone who was like this all the time? In MIC he was nothing like this.

Nigel to win with Tony second. Nigel comes across as someone who could give you advice if you had a work issue or you needed to resolve something. He has literally seen it all. Do you remember when he said at the EP ‘you all told me years ago the UK wouldn’t leave and laughed at me - well you’re not laughing now.’

His daughter sounds delightful and very proud of her Dad. I don’t agree with everything that Nigel says but he speaks for a sizeable group of people.

I've never felt a series to be as heavily manipulated as this one, I've really struggled with it

purpleme12 · 10/12/2023 11:21

But it doesn't make sense why they wouldn't show a 'showdown' cos that's what makes good Tele

Jitterybugs · 10/12/2023 11:28

I think the showdown was in Josie’s imagination while she was lying around in the bus.
