The BBC has acquired the thrilling Irish crime drama KIN, an eight-part series produced by BRON Studios (Joker) and Headline Pictures (The Man in the High Castle), from FIFTH SEASON for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The drama's cast is led by Clare Dunne (Herself), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (The Cured), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander) and newcomer Yasmin Seky.

A boy is killed and his family embarks on a gangland war with an international cartel: a war that is impossible to win.

The Kinsellas are a local crime family, while the Cunningham cartel is a vast global organisation. It is David and Goliath.

Out-numbered, out-financed and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail, and family members and associates are picked off.

But they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bonds of blood and family. They are kin.

Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “Anchored by a tremendous cast, Kin is a powerful and intense story of love, grief, family and crime, and its devastating ramifications.”

💐thanks @Blondeshavemorefun

It must be the escapism I like because I'd run a mile from gangs, violence, organised crime or murders in real life 😀

goldennavy · 14/11/2023 15:02

@Blondeshavemorefun
Thank you as always

BIWI · 14/11/2023 16:30

Dulra · 15/11/2023 10:14

Ah the Irish love a good gangland drama!

I missed this when it was on Irish tv so will catch it now on bbc minus the ad breaks 😁It did get good reviews at the time

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2023 12:35

Seems Ireland gets some good stuff @Dulra and @LadyEloise1

LadyEloise1 · 15/11/2023 12:42

Thanks for including me but it's not my thing @Blondeshavemorefun.
I hate Irish gangland crime stuff.
We've enough of it in real life.
It makes me too sad and angry.
I didn't / couldn't watch the highly acclaimed Love/Hate series either.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2023 12:50

No posts. Totally understand @LadyEloise1 😘

Clawdy · 18/11/2023 08:26

So two new weekend dramas - Kin, and Boat Story - both about crime and gang warfare. Doesn't sound appealing........

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/11/2023 08:51

I love a little bit of gang @Clawdy

I loved gangs of London. Bloody brilliant !!

Jellykat · 18/11/2023 21:37

I'm in

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2023 21:50

It's not gripping me so far
Boat story seems more my kind of thing with he lady actress out of ' back to life'

Jellykat · 18/11/2023 21:52

Me neither the80s, too many angry bearded men all at once, dont know what the hells going on

daffodilandtulip · 18/11/2023 21:52

How long's he been in prison for? How's he still got a house?

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2023 22:24

There are two many men who look similar.
Makes me laugh the young son wants to study law when they are all pretty messed up drug dealing criminals etc ! 😂

daffodilandtulip · 18/11/2023 22:27

I'm getting so confused with who is who!

I think he wants to study law to join the family business but without having to put irons on peoples' faces.

Jellykat · 18/11/2023 22:28

Poor kid born into the wrong family there!
