The BBC has acquired the thrilling Irish crime drama KIN, an eight-part series produced by BRON Studios (Joker) and Headline Pictures (The Man in the High Castle), from FIFTH SEASON for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The drama's cast is led by Clare Dunne (Herself), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (The Cured), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander) and newcomer Yasmin Seky.
A boy is killed and his family embarks on a gangland war with an international cartel: a war that is impossible to win.
The Kinsellas are a local crime family, while the Cunningham cartel is a vast global organisation. It is David and Goliath.
Out-numbered, out-financed and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail, and family members and associates are picked off.
But they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bonds of blood and family. They are kin.
Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “Anchored by a tremendous cast, Kin is a powerful and intense story of love, grief, family and crime, and its devastating ramifications.”
