Anyone else looking forward to the new season starting on Wednesday? It will seem a bit strange without Perez but looks to be a good cast and storyline so far as we know.

is it only Agnes' sheep that are being killed?
Billy is a wrongun

MyCircumference · 09/11/2023 06:19

and what about the man in the wooden house?

Just came across Perez in ' Who is Erin Carter?' - very disappointed in him

Me too after to saw that!

I'll not have you say a word against Perez. @TheSpikySpinosaurus Smile

I miss Jimmy, actually. I miss his nice knitwear and pea coat, and the fact that he both managed to look attractive and rather like a sullen, pinkish pig all the time. I miss the way he said ‘Ok’ all the time.

What occurred to me after watching this episode is that they need to cast for hair in terms of continuity, because actors are outdoors in damp or wet conditions so much — my hair puffs up like a furze bush when damp and looks completely different, whereas Tosh and Ruth’s hair looks much the same in rain or shine.

Forestdweller11 · 09/11/2023 08:02

I am really liking it. Forgot it was on on Wednesday (thought it was on on Thursday) so had to watch 30 minutes behind. It's a bit of a tangled web ... Not sure if the different angles are going to join up or be different threads. I really, really, really want to binge it!

laplage · 09/11/2023 10:14

Something is going to happen with Ruth and the taxi driver? Is it the same taxi driver who picked her up from the airport? And could have Ellen been picked up by him after she made the phone call?

Was the guy speaking to Cal near the end about the drugs Liam, Rosemary's boyfriend?

So many questions!

Maybe there’s a Skoda cartel of taxi drivers?

I wondered by Tosh had Agnes’s phone number already in her phone (Tosh rang her when they found the bloodstained car) - is it because of the sheep deaths?

I'm almost sure that the guy speaking to Cal about drugs was heather's son? (Deacon blue woman) so Ellen's cousin!

I'm sure it was him she went to see and said they needed to get to the farm, and he wanted a shower. He does look similar to the boyfriend who was suspiciously out all night!

laplage · 09/11/2023 10:40

Ah okay, that makes more sense.

The Bains are still considered 'big shots' so they are inevitably going to be involved in some sort of criminal activity.

Yes, Cal said , at the start of that convo at the end, I'm sorry about your cousin.

LittleBowSheep · 09/11/2023 14:43

Who was the guy at the vicar's house when Ruth arrived for supper? He made his excuses and left, but I don't recall seeing a car outside the house and it did look to be in the middle of nowhere so wondering how he would have made his way home?

LadyEloise1 · 09/11/2023 15:30

The guy at the vicar's house was the same guy who said he had seen the van owned by the guy making candles and ex of Ruth's near the house he had just bought. Could he smoke the same brand of cigarettes as Ruth's sil ? I don't think the sil is a wrong 'un ???

Don’t … There was a certain rhythm to him … During all the long pauses with a suspect whose closest relative had just been found sacrificially done away with, you could see him trying to get in tune with the person’s deepest longings, and empathising with everything they’d ever done wrong in their lives. Psychically promising them a gentle time in prison if they’d only just let it all go …

Tosh tends to look mildly irritated with a puzzling suspect - as if she’s going to be late for the childminder if they don’t do the decent thing and confess quick sharp.

So yes - where are Donny and the baby???

I do hope Ruth inherited something significant since it seems her brother got the house. So I guess it will be the cigarette connection to her brother that will force her to stay for the rest of the series?

I wish I could binge too. Am out of the habit of remembering from one week to the next how characters inter-connect.

diddl · 09/11/2023 21:23

Well I'm enjoying it so far but haven't got a clue who anyone is!

The guy at the end who Cal had been shifting drugs(?) for?

The cleaning lady's son?

She threatened a bloke for money?

All these secrets!

So was Ellen somehow running something?

BiliousOhGod · 09/11/2023 21:35

Re: taxis, there really only used to be 1 company at the airport! Bolt's. There may be more around now, especially in Lerwick - it's been a while since I was up, but it's not unbelievable to think that there's a lot of Skoda taxis.... (And when I say a lot, it used to be a handful!)

I agree on the similar looking actors in this story, though - I'd appreciate a personae dramatis to look up! Lol

WinterDeWinter · 09/11/2023 21:41

I was desperately hoping that Tosh would have been replaced. She’s SO bad. As if someone from a daytime soap from the 80s had been transported to something which could otherwise be quite a good Scot noir (with a few other cullings 😁

WinterDeWinter · 09/11/2023 21:42

her only mode is ‘why didn’t you tell me we’d run out of crisps? And your parents on their way over, too.’

DisforDarkChocolate · 09/11/2023 22:22

I be loving Tosh but they need to keep her on the gritty stuff and away from the sappy storylines. I want crime not soppy relationship stuff.

Sandy comes from Shetland so in real life he has the right accent, I think he's toned it down from the early series and I miss it.

Lunde · 09/11/2023 22:49

I think that Skoda have just won the contract to provide the vehicles for this season - previously they all had Volvos (or rusty land Rovers)

SoupDragon · 09/11/2023 22:54

where are Donny and the baby???

I wondered about the baby and that she had fab childcare but didn't she ditch Donny at the end of last season?

Ah, see I thought she was fantastic in the storyline where she got attacked (can't remember which season - maybe four or five?) my heart broke for her 💔

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 09/11/2023 23:48

I'm disappointed I haven't spotted a cake fridge yet.

Taylorscat · 10/11/2023 06:42

I’d like a bit more Shelter atmos and nice house interiors, this series is missing it.

thanks to the pp for explanation of the significance of the cigarette, I had no idea what was happening there!!

RandomersAssociation · 10/11/2023 07:00

I recall Donny had messed up in some way - spending too much time with a Bad Woman who might have been using him to gain information?

But he’d surely have some contact with The Baby?

SoupDragon · 10/11/2023 07:46

I guess Baby and Ex Partner are irrelevant to the story. There's been very little background "ordinary life going on" in this so far.
