Anyone else looking forward to the new season starting on Wednesday? It will seem a bit strange without Perez but looks to be a good cast and storyline so far as we know.

Ricochet off the inside of the car door. Not that implausible. We didn't actually see Ellen jump anywhere.

But after jumping in the sea and escaping why didn't she hide from the approaching car?

Hypothermia setting in?

Someone she knew and wasn't scared of?
I did think - but it was just a vague impression that the car that approached her seemed to be high at the front - maybe chest height - like a pick-up truck, landrover or SUV whereas the hitmen from London were driving a sleek, lower Mercedes? saloon.

Yeah that was a frustrating watch surviving that jump in the sea with and then walks along the road. Bound to be found. She knew the island - she could have hidden somewhere.

I've always loved Shetland, but I don't like Ashley Jenson, but the other regular characters are great, missed Jimmy though.

I wasn't expecting to see the lovely Sihtric from The Last Kingdom as such an unpleasant character though.

I’d say Ellen was the body at the end. I guess the question is was she killed by the car or hypothermia.

We were shown this at the end of series 7. He quit the police and went off into the sunset with Meg.

I guess I better watch season 7 again!

I enjoyed it and thought it was Ellen's body at the end. Thanks to the poster who mentioned the female singer from Deacon Blue being in it, I knew I recognised the actress from somewhere.

As I understand it, after 5 series it was decided that the character was coming to a natural conclusion. Series 6 and 7 were then written with that in mind.

Does the storyline end next week, or carry on till end of series?

I was bothered I’d miss Perez too much. I did miss him but happy to say that I still enjoyed it.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed episode 1. Loved when Ashley Jensen pulled Tosh up on saying Temporary DI. She was totally right - undermining and annoying. Tosh getting her touche moment though.

Is it only one episode per week? Not sure how I'm going to cope.

I do miss Perez though, his voice just used to make me go weak at the knees. Agatha doesn’t have the same effect 😁

Maybe that was it - I remember thinking there were 2 different Skodas in the episode.

Found it pretty gripping, and gutted that that looked like Ellen at the end. Lots of intrigue- where do the sheep fit in?
