DWTS US has done a lovely tribute to Len! I'll put it in the videos thread

MarkWithaC · 25/10/2023 18:04

The Beeb could easily find an uninspiring repeat of something to put on on a Sunday evening instead. They've got plenty of stuff.

Can anyone tell me when they film the group dances? I started watching after covid when they did it all the filming in their group bubble in the summer before forming bubbles with their celeb when live shows were on. (Bubble seems a strange concept now!!) I’m aware it’s filmed in advance but is it earlier on the Saturday recording day (I see an audience sometimes?) or is it much earlier on a different day?

Same for the dancing to the music guest?

Someone on here said Gio had an injury when group dances done (so filmed in advance?) which would explain why hardly seemed to feature in them this year. I wonder if they can give him some now he’s not got a celeb or if too late? Nikita, Carlos, Vito and maybe Kia seem to have been featured a lot this year. Hardly seen Johannnes.

Edited

The group dances were filmed at end of August when Gio sprained his ankle which is why he rarely features this series. There is a dancer called Jake Leigh who helps Jason G with the choreography who seems to take Gio's place in some of the dances to make up the numbers . I think some of the Sunday night singing acts are filmed in advance and some filmed on the Saturday night, it depends on the artists schedule etc. Madison Beer on Movie week was live that weekend because she mentioned it on the One Show. (I spend far too much time on social media/ watching tv)!

I shall forever call Kai Kia after reading this Grin

Pashazade · 25/10/2023 19:16

Gosh that Len tribute, I was doing alright till they showed Bruno at the end 😭

CaveMum · 25/10/2023 19:32

I started blabbing about 20 seconds into that video of the Len Tribute and now I’m a soggy, snotty mess 😭😭😭

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/10/2023 19:34

Yes I blubbed as soon as the dance started

They could cobble together a best of from this Strictly season if it was late on, or a themed best of if it was a theme week or a general best of or something still strictly related to fill the slot.

Maireas · 25/10/2023 20:10

No, I think it would take away from the rhythm of the show. It's all around the Dance Off.

Oh no I didn’t even twig! Kai Kia it is then 🤣

PantsToItAll · 25/10/2023 20:12

Thanks for all the info re filming of the group dances and music acts. I’d love a real behind the scenes program on it all but they won’t want to share their secrets I suppose

DontBeAPrickDarren · 25/10/2023 20:24

That Len video really was a weepy one!

Gothambutnotahamster · 25/10/2023 21:40

The tribute to Len on DWTS was beautiful - made me cry. Thanks for sharing @EineReiseDurchDieZeit

Especially loved seeing so many of the original DWTS professionals take part - a true tribute.

Did Strictly do a tribute? I didn't watch the very first show (where they meet their partners), so thought maybe they did one then as otherwise very disappointing that they haven't paid tribute.

CaveMum · 25/10/2023 22:33

@Gothambutnotahamster they did do a tribute, similar to the DWTS one with cast and crew talking about him.

Anton finished the tribute using a line from a Matt Munro song - “I’ll only miss him when I think of him. But I think of him every day.”

I’ll put the video on the video thread.

Gothambutnotahamster · 25/10/2023 22:51

Thanks @CaveMum as i didn't see that. Was it on the 'partner' first episode?

CaveMum · 25/10/2023 22:52

I canti quite remember which episode it was, but it probably was the partnering episode.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/10/2023 23:45

It wasn't a dance, just a talking one. They did a lovely dance when he left though, I might add that to the video thread.

I thought the DWTS one was really lovely, especially the pictures of him with the pros as children. And yes, the light on the empty chair and seeing Bruno was what really set me off.

Katya looking at the top of her game on ITT yesterday. I think Nigel is being undermarked… in favour of Bobby?

Bbq1 · 27/10/2023 14:05

I think Nigel peaked early on. His dances don't seem particularly memorable. Be interesting to know who remains in the show with absolutely zero dance experience.

Bbq1 · 27/10/2023 14:07

Just checked it out so the 2 Angela's, Layton and Nigel all have dance experience. Doesn't seem fair really.

xsquared · 27/10/2023 14:24

. Be interesting to know who remains in the show with absolutely zero dance experience.

What is your definition of absolutely zero dance experience though? I bet even Krishnan has danced at his own wedding and perhaps Zara has danced in a night club.

Where do we draw the line of who has had too much dance experience from those who haven't?

To answer your question though, I reckon Krishnan will be in musicals week before leaving. Bobby may well end up in the final if Layton is in the dance off with Nigel. Ellie I reckon, is slightly more popular than Nigel and will gain votes from other female contestants knocked out.

I've liked all Nigel's dances except the Batman one, which was shite. He did some awesome side by side in his salsa, so I don't know why he struggled so much in the jive. I think the music was too slow and weird for a jive (not that I'm an expert).
