Keep Dancing

I loved Annabel and Johannes and don't think Johannes looks flat. He looks his usual sweet self to me.
I cannot be arsed with Bobby. He's just so VACUOUS. Maybe he'd be more interesting with a different partner.
Nigel was rubbish and Katya could and should have choreographed something much more witty.
LOVED Krishnan.
Didn't love Angela's Charleston; she danced it very well but it didn't charm me. I think I just don't like that number.
Kai's outfit was cringeworthy but their performance was charming, I thought.
Layton in a weirdly prim long skirt and that terrible wig is NOT what Grease or Rizzo are about. I'd rather he'd dressed as a man and they just let the song and the dancing speak.
Jody had improved a lot, I thought, and I don't agree about him not having a performing bone in his body.
Didn't watch Adam, he bores me so much.
Amanda struck some beautiful lines (I guess it's the ballet training), but I felt like she wasn't using the floor enough; it should have been slinkier. She looked very uncomfortable when Anton went on about how lovely it is when Giovanni gets up close. Was it because her daughter was there?
Ellie can dance very well, I can see that, but for some reason I don't massively enjoy watching her. I think Vito's a sweetheart though.
Zara is completely forgettable.
SlebNikita was clearly the weakest dancer but I wish she hadn't gone; she looked so sad. I think she's just not very well known. I thought her jive was perfectly respectable for someone with no dance experience at all.

Also meant to say, what a delight to see Amy Dowden. She looked beautiful.

I forgot about Eddie too. I hate CC; it's just 'mucking about', as the late great Len (RIP and pickle your walnuts for ever) used to say. Wouldn't mind so much if more people went for the theatre/jazz option and we had more dances like Faye and Giovanni's fabulous Fosse-style number, but 'street dance' just seems to mean a licence to be overmarked.
I agree Karen doesn't seem to be feeling it this year. I hope she doesn't leave; I love her.

Well Bobby has had a hard life losing his mum so early, so I am going to try to control my bitchiness and just go for a snack break when he dances. I will save it for Layton.

I hope Jody improves. I really like his personality, and of course Jowita is wonderful.

I wondered if Karen imposed the street CC on Eddie? He didn't mention in the VT anything about being a fan of street dance or anything did he?

I think Karen is a beautiful goddess but I don't think she "buys" into the commercial (as in popular, not dance style) audience appeal stuff that Strictly, rightly or wrongly, is all about. Dunno what I mean really 😂 but if I think of "great pros for Strictly" I think, Katya, Johannes, Giovanni, Nikita, Gorka. If I think of Karen, I think "great pro".

She's definitely had enough I think. I didn't even realise, or had forgotten, that her speciality was street. She seems to be withdrawing her personality a bit from it all. I was really surprised last night when she did the "and I'm from the Bronx!" thing. It seemed out of character from how she's been recently.

I'd love her on ITT instead of if-in-doubt-shout-East.

I think the basic problem with Bobby is that he is so young and so he looks like a teenager dancing or a child with his Mum. There is no sexiness or male edge to him.

As regards Layton yes he likes to be in charge - you could see that from the very first second of that routine and it's not a good look.

Karen doesn't seem able to teach her celebs the basics of dance, though she is wonderful to watch on her own. Maybe she is just fed up.

I feel as if Jowita is cheating on Hamza 😂

Glad it’s not just me that hated the Fosse. Never heard the song before but it irritated the life out of me as does Angela. She can’t seem to maintain eye contact when talking with Claudia. Have a look. Last week she was worse

I liked the Fosse but Angela was often a second or so behind Carlos which, when they're dancing side by side, is very noticeable. The judges didn't seem to see it though.

I cannot get over how much I see Angelina Jolie in Bobby. It's like, he is her son. Is it just me?

You are right about Bobby! I think that's why I keep wishing he was with a taller/older-older-looking pro than Dianne; it would play against that and maybe give him some gravitas.
It's not 'bitchiness' to say you don't like him. People do it all over these threads and are not pulled up for it.
Hamza is adorable. I miss him and Jowita.

I've sort of assumed that it's because it's literally impossible to make a mistake in CC because there are no rules. If they've managed to be reasonably in time with each other and not fallen over, they end up with a high score. Grrrr.

I noticed that too. It was a terrific dance but certainly not flawless. And the music was v annoying

I thought the same about Eddie and Karen but Shirl still wheeled out the ten paddle. Surely they only reason you should hand out a 10 in week 3 is because the performance is absolutely flawless. Grrrrrr I hate couples choice and the impact it has on scores.

I really like Angela S and am rooting for her but I hated the music they danced to on Saturday 🙈. So bloody irritating! I still think she did a great job.

I'll have to rewatch her in the Clauditorium as I hadn't noticed the lack of eye contact!!

Was thinking about Amanda and Gio's rumba, and the song, Out of Reach, and whereabouts it features in the movie (it's my day off so thinking a lot) and I said before, it's the bit when she comes back on the train after Mark Darcy's parents' anniversary party... now I'm thinking it's the bit where she comes back on the train after she's let down by Daniel Cleaver at the Tarts and Vicar's party. It's bugging me. Not enough to watch the film again before Christmas when, inevitably, it'll be on, but still. I thought it was very good as far as Rumbas go. Liking this couple more and more.

Thinking about couples choice, since Karen and Chucky Venn did their brilliant street dance however many years ago that was ( I'd guess 6 or 7), too many similar ccs have been done, less brilliantly, but are greeted with the same level of awestruck surprise, as if nothing like it has been done before.
