I don't think Adam is presenting himself as "dim". I think he's just lovely and bubbly and very happy to be there. His dancing is fine, he's one of the middle of the board contestants where we'll see a noticeable improvement I think.

I'd say as kindly as possible his stumbling block will be Luba as I don't think she connects with either her pro or the public.

Mrsjayy · 09/10/2023 09:05

I also think Adam Is just a nice bloke he's .just happy and light hearted I don't think he's dim !

I agree. Lovely man with a sweet family.

Clawdy · 09/10/2023 09:15

No, Adam certainly doesn't come across to me as "dim" either, he just seems a lovely, fun person.

Anyone who has rheumatoid arthritis and can dance however well or badly - good on them. I have it and it is at times crippling. And at others I can probably dance all night but very badly!

FeedMeSantiago · 09/10/2023 09:59

In awe of Ryan - I'm the same age as him and have psoriatic arthritis and some days I can barely move, let alone dance. An autoimmune inflammatory arthritis can really take it out of you and make you feel decades older.

Seen on Lorraine this morning that the producers have asked Layton to cover up as he likes to rehearse in “skimpy” clothing and the camera crew have said it makes things difficult? Apparently Layton has said it’s all strapped down so it’s fine.

Maireas · 09/10/2023 10:22

Oh dear lord. Maybe they could pixilate.

Lentilweaver · 09/10/2023 10:23

Don't know if that story is true, but Layton's desperate cries for attention really repel me. Was the same with Jayde last year. She spent all her time picking fights with people on Twitter who didn't like her dancing and claiming that it was because she was overweight. Just dance, dammit. Nobody wants to hear about your journey.

I like Jody's stiff upper lip.

Or maybe he could have some consideration for others

exactly. He’s said “it’s how he’s comfortable” well what about the camera crew that don’t want to see your genitals and catch them on film for a family show?

I loved Layton in Bad Education, I thought he was hilarious but now realising he’s not that great an actor - that was just him. I can sense he will kick off big time at some point. A shame because he’s a great dancer, if he just took his head out of his own arse to develop “listening skills” as was said on Saturday he could smash it.

tennissquare · 09/10/2023 10:29

Yes Layton is on Alan Carr's Life is a beach podcast today saying the same thing about having to cover up in rehearsals, it's quite a funny episode if you don't mind the campness.

bizzey · 09/10/2023 10:31

I wonder what the judges thought when they knew he was doing the show ?

Lentilweaver · 09/10/2023 10:33

I think Layton doesn't know how to partner. He will shine if he gets solo bits and struggle in hold.

Well, quite

2Rebecca · 09/10/2023 10:47

Knew I'd seen him before and hadn't heard of the Something about Jamie people talked about. It was Bad Education. I agree he was great in that but that persona is less great in Strictly when to do well he has to tone down the "me me me" stuff and work with his partner.

I saw that LK tittered and eyerolled! Put it away Layton!

BogRollBOGOF · 09/10/2023 12:31

Spent the morning catching up.
I thought Nigel and Katya were in danger of being throttled by their capes (The Incredibles vibes...) His boots seemed to emphisise the flat-footedness.
Kai is not suited to blonde wigs. I need brain bleach now.
Angela S did a great job on the sharpness and timing.
I enjoy Ellie's performance as a complete package.
I'm ready to see something different from Angela R. The wig was somewhat Anne Robinson.
Eddie was very enjoyable but not a 10. Karen knew that too. She looked annoyed initially but scores seemed to mollify her.
Enjoying Amanda, and it was a strong rhumba.
Bobbie's hips! He had plenty spare even if he could have lent some to Les. I enjoy watching people that look like they're enjoying it.
Got George Michael vibes from Pronikita. I really enjoy watching him. I have no love of Layton's ego.
Rather impessed with Krishnan. I was enjoying the joy in the first couple of weeks, but he's danced through it rather decently in his own right without any filler.

Sensible combo in the dance-off and the right outcome. Gorka seemed to let loose and just enjoy it in the second half knowing that the game was already up rather than dancing down to not show Nikita up.

There's not an obvious weakest link in the wings for me in the next couple of weeks, the cluster of weaker dancers have all got something about them and capacity to progress and improve through the first half.

Yuck.
What a twat. And I was just thawing to him.
He can do whatever he wants, with whatever body part he wants. He can pretend that his body parts don't define him. I don't give a fuck. But we don't see Kai's genitals, or Nancy's, so I don't want to see his either just because he feels like making a statement that he's got a penis but likes wearing a skirt.
So over that.

I mean its a training room that gets shown on TV at teatime not a nightclub

Stroopwaffels · 09/10/2023 13:38

It’s the flapping the hand in front of the face when you’re “overcome” which annoys me about him.

I don't mind his campness it's the least annoying thing about him 😂

pramhelpplease · 09/10/2023 14:06

No, I like the camp - I already listen to the Alan Carr podcast so jidt listened to his episode and it was really funny - it’s the refusal to take on board feedback and other people’s point of view that’s irritating.

He will still be in the final though

Reddog1 · 09/10/2023 14:34

That’s unpleasant behaviour from Layton if true. Akin to flashing, just like some sweaty old fella in a raincoat.
