I think Christy was hanging on in there for a few weeks so think she was the right one to go.

Dan took a high risk strategy and it didn't pay off for him. If Dan's had worked, Josh would have looked like he hadn't done enough. I think Josh looks strongest at this point, suspect Matty might have curse of the star baker and go out next week, as I think he's been lucky to get this far. But really any of them could go out next week, they are all good bakers so it's down to who screws up the most under the pressure.

I'd seen the caterpillar cake in the book and thought it would be hard to do without a visual clue.

I think Dan was a bit lucky not to be sent home, to be honest.

Yes I agree. She was definitely the right one to go this week. I can't call the winner from Tasha, Dam or Josh. Think Matty will go next week. BTW does anyone know how cochlear implants work? My DS was watching with me and said his friend has one and can hear him fine. I didn't really know how to explain how they work, or why Tasha needs a signer as well as I have no idea!

My friend got one last year (in her 50s) and it was like a miracle. She has lost her hearing in adulthood though, so didn't sign. She does fine without signing, but maybe Tasha doesn't have as much hearing with the implant as my friend. It's very exhausting having to concentrate to listen with partial hearing, so the signer would make quite a difference.

Yes I didn't think of that. Its probably easier to concentrate on what she is doing if she has a signer.

That was bloody close and bloody lucky.

Think Cristy just gave up. She was so deflated after her show stopper, it just came across that her heart wasn't in it any more.

Think only thing that come in dams favour is winning technicals and star baker twice.

I’ve thought from early on that Josh is going to win - simply because he didn’t really feature much in early weeks and I have a theory that they don’t show much of the eventual winner in early stages so it’s a bit more dramatic when someone goes out who did get more airtime early on (see Jurgen). He wouldn’t be my preference for a winner though - I would like Dan or Tasha to win.

One of them does a mean plate of chips though, spends ages peeling the spuds and out into his detached garage where he keeps the deep fat fryer, so no awful smell in the house.

I don't think I have watched a bake off where I have liked the contestants equally. I watch it with a smile on my face.

Cochlear implants are not the miracle cure people seem to think. They do restore some hearing but you do not hear like a hearing person - the sounds are very different and you need to learn how to listen with a CI.

People with CI will always be deaf - you can't wear them 24/7, in the rain/water or when doing contact activities or sports.

BSL is a full language with its own grammar etc and to become a fully qualified and trained BSL interpreter it takes around 4-6 years.
