I boast a cook book that my great-grandmother actually wrote. It's terribly impractical, because she didn't always believe in giving quantities - it has instructions like "Take some eggs".

OTOH, her quantities in the recipe for sloe gin are positively heroic. We're talking about starting off with 30 gallons of gin.😵
