Sounds great. Must be so awkward for him though when the question everyone wants to ask is the one he absolutely can't answer.

MustGetOutofBed · 03/11/2023 17:58

Fantastic, well done @cheshirecatssmile and team 👏 and Dan too 😃

cheshirecatssmile · 03/11/2023 17:59

I had told them directly not to ask him, they mainly asked about the time given, practice, other people, Paul Hollywood is he a nice man, applying for the show
He said he really enjoyed it

cheshirecatssmile · 03/11/2023 18:00

Am I being thick? Can't think what question you mean that they would want to ask but he can't answer.

I agree that everyone seems lovely this year. I am team Tasha for the win, but little Josh might sneak up and take it. I really like Saku, she is funny and sweet. Everyone seemed to do well this week with most people getting some small criticisms that did not make for a bad bake.

Not the first time the Guardian has printed a sneery column saying the Bake Off is over. At the same time as running a minute by minute blog of every episode.

I think they do have a point - going back to the classics and removing the ridiculous time limits does reduce the drama. But it was almost unwatchable last year with Paul and Prue being perpetually hyper critical of the bakers skills.

I think after 14 years, it's probably hard to keep it fresh. But I am enjoying this series and there are some lovely bakers this year.

All That Glitters, a jewellery-making version of Bake Off, is the latest to reapply the formula in unexpected ways. Here’s a quick guide to the best, and the worst, attempts

Lol that's funny that theyve been running the same story for 9 years!
I agree about the smut. Irs the same as the 'Hollywoid Handshake' It's as if something happened naturally and rarely but it made the papers do now it has to be shoehorned into every situation!

cheshirecatssmile · 04/11/2023 16:30

Right as I'm going to forget will tell you all any ways

Paul Hollywood is a nice guy, enjoys banter but gets bored quickly , but others may have their own opinions.

When you see Alison /Noel chatting to a contestant, they normally do it when your having a moment , coke when they can see your stressed etc

These interactions can take up to 45 mins off your baking time in reality

Other contenders are lovely

To audition he had to do a filmed application, make bread , and a gingerbread house

That it doesn’t matter how many times you practice in you perfect temp kitchen at home with loads of space…. Once you get in the tent with smaller space, temperature and humidity. Buggered .

cheshirecatssmile · 04/11/2023 16:32

And yes the poster who mentioned same clothes
It's in case they film something Saturday that can be included Sunday
So continuity.

LadyEloise1 · 04/11/2023 16:50

I often wondered @cheshirecatssmile about the presenters, chatting to interrupting the contestants, is there extra time added in for that so the contestants aren't disadvantaged ?

BishyBarnyBee · 04/11/2023 16:55

Cheshirecatsmile, not sure what you mean by that, can you explain the typo?

Thanks for the little backstage glimpses. I sometimes challenge myself to do the bakes against the clock but from what you say I think I'm deluding myself - I don't know how they do what they do in the time.

Maireas · 04/11/2023 17:03

Yes, and it seems very unfair to take 45 minutes off someone's baking time?

MyCircumference · 04/11/2023 17:08

do you mean they clock when they see you are stressed or not @cheshirecatssmile and 4 - 5 minutes?

MyCircumference · 04/11/2023 17:09

or joke even @cheshirecatssmile

MyCircumference · 04/11/2023 17:09

that's fascinating @BishyBarnyBee

No

cheshirecatssmile · 04/11/2023 17:12

@BishyBarnyBee was meant to say come not coke
On the app so can't edit

cheshirecatssmile · 04/11/2023 17:13

Basically they can pray about that long and interrupt your baking you can loose up to 45 mins of your baking time

cheshirecatssmile · 04/11/2023 17:14

I'm giving up typing for tonight
I'm rather poorly today
Have a really nasty chest infection, sound like darth Vader.

Pray = prat

So - let me get this right - you're baking to a tight schedule, say 2hours, yet the hosts chatting to you could make you lose 45 minutes?!
