I swear Marcus's forehead is expanding upwards every time I see him

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 01/09/2023 21:12

My first time on a plane was a Qantas jumbo from Sydney in 1976. It was amazing. My mum, who barely drank, was pretty pissed before Singapore, they just kept bringing free drinks! we had so many meals, snacks, biscuits, nuts a chocolate on tap. There were Elizabeth Arden (posh in 76)toiletries in the loo. Weird tubular headphones.
I would recreate the absolutely solid and rubbery omelette served just after Bombay. (Yes we stopped twice!)

When I went to Mexico in 2013 we got sausages in a red onion gravy with mash and it was actually really nice. I'm sure Jamie Oliver had something to do with it.

If you flew with Thomas Cook I think it would have been James Martin.

Do we have judges tonight?

Scooch, that Jeremy bloke from that Airport programme, and Leslie Nielsen.

Don’t call me Shirley! 😂

Blueberrycreampie · 01/09/2023 21:14

@EsmaCannonball wouldn't that be great!

TheDogsMother · 01/09/2023 21:14

Don't start me on the Airplane films 🤣 Is Scraps a boy dog ?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/09/2023 21:14

I quite like an aeroplane meal. It gives you something to do and it's the only time I ever have a bread roll with dinner and cheese and biscuits after my pudding. Grin

That's the one! And yes it was Thomas Cook. I just remembered the J name and his was the first that popped into my head.

ChicoryDip · 01/09/2023 21:15

I'd recreate the Air France spinach sandwich that I once got on a long haul flight as the veggie option. No butter, just two pieces of bread filled with damp spinach and wrapped in clinggfilm.

FuckingHellAdele · 01/09/2023 21:15

I thought the aeroplane food cliche was chicken or beef?

I've had some enjoyable airline meals tbf, not posh or even very good. just I've been absolutely starving

fourquenelles · 01/09/2023 21:16

I used to fly a lot when I was working and I can't remember one meal good or bad!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/09/2023 21:16

I remember because I'm pretty sure I had the same meal at around the same time. Grin

It came with a sort of corrugated cardboard table mat with his face on IIRC.

Halsall · 01/09/2023 21:16

I honestly can’t remember any of the airline meals I’ve had.

oh God, just seen Wynne 🫣

littlbrowndog · 01/09/2023 21:16

ChicoryDip · 01/09/2023 21:16

Yes and the chicken gave them all food poisoning including the pilot. Then a random passenger had to land the plane. 70s Airport films.

littlbrowndog · 01/09/2023 21:17

Pokie upie veg

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 01/09/2023 21:17

Wynne lovely, you’re too good a cook to do comedy costumes.

Sunbird24 · 01/09/2023 21:18

Just got home! 😩

ChicoryDip · 01/09/2023 21:18

I'd have the same concern with Wynne's oysters after they've been hanging around the airport for hours/days.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/09/2023 21:18

Lots of mirin this year.

Wasn't it the fish that poisoned them, or am I remembering wrong??
