Did he say no?!!

ChorusLine · 29/02/2008 08:33

it was awful - it must put everyone off ever doing it!!!

Hulababy · 29/02/2008 08:34

I just saw that. Was cringe-making.

He didn't say no, but seemed somewhat reluctant!

Oh dear.

Oh, it was awful wasn't it?

moljam · 29/02/2008 10:34

i didnt see it but poor bloke!

SmartArse · 29/02/2008 10:34

Oh, I had to go to work before they did it. Quite glad I missed it now! DH and I were laughing about it and speculating as to quite how car crashy it would be.

Peachy · 29/02/2008 10:43

Oh it was both sad and frankly, hilarious! Esp. when he couldn't say a sentence withouts aying bugger or bloody- almost PMSL.

Frankly if you're proposing to your DP in public (esp. on TV) for any other reason than you both agreed to it but kept it secret in order to get a free day off work / bouquet of flowers etc, then you have tro expect potential humilation don't you?

Did you hear the other letter they ahd- the lady who proposed and her DP of 9 years just patted her head and went to work? Sorry but LOL!

BeauLocks · 29/02/2008 10:44

If he wanted to marry you he would have proposed long ago love. Take the hint.

Peachy · 29/02/2008 10:48

Or if you won't take the hint

Do it in private at least!

Who wants to be known as the woman turned down on live TV?

Or have their DP accept to avoid that?

Gawd, have some dignity

BeauLocks · 29/02/2008 10:50

Exactly Peachy. Totally cringeworthy.

BibiThree · 29/02/2008 10:53

It was terrible, I turned it off. He didnt seem at all excited, happy or even all that shocked, he was quite grumpy looking from what i saw.

oh dear.

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 29/02/2008 10:54

I watched with my DH, we were both cringing, DH's exact words 'poor bastard', i was shouting at the telly 'he would have asked YOU if he wanted to marry you'. Yes i'm sure we'll see that clip repeated on one of those most embarrasing moments of 2008, telly reviews.

Katiekitty · 29/02/2008 10:56

Where can I see it?! I want to see it! I had to leave for work and missed it, I suspected it would be a good one too...

Can anyone clever post a link to where I can see it?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 29/02/2008 11:18

Oh dear!

On bbc breakfast this morning someone emailed in to say they were going to a surprise wedding today. The woman had booked the whole thing and her husband had no clue, I wonder how that went down!

Tech · 29/02/2008 11:32

These "reluctant husband" stories always remind me of that "Sex and the City" episode, or was it Seinfeld, where rather than endlessly analyzing some man's behaviour, they discover the power of "he's just not that into you". Something many laydeez could learn from . Indded, I see there's now a self-help book by that name..... I give them six months. He'll probably have an affair and then marry someone else within a year. This tends to be the pattern innit.

southeastastra · 29/02/2008 12:37

i missed it, i did see the woman talking about it though.

might watch online for the cringe factor. poor woman.

MerlinsBeard · 29/02/2008 12:44

He was a bit "if you want" about it, hugged her briwfly with one arm and then they stood apart while she sobbed with joy and he shuffled about.

I think he knew as soon as he saw the cameras that he was going to have to say yes.

ConnorTraceptive · 29/02/2008 12:50

I was wondering what happened. I had to turn it over I just can't watch cringey moments on telly and you just knew it was going to be. Poor cow!

DrNortherner · 29/02/2008 13:02

I saw this and cringed too.

He ovbiously did not want to marry her but had to say yes. He looked very peed off.

He will get ribbed by all of hsi work amtes.

Silly woman.
