Super nurse Sonia didn’t think to make sure Reiss was using a condom when taking her to todger town? No mention of other contraception or being safe to Whitney

I know right! I don't think any of the residents of Albert Square have heard of contraception tbh 🙄

Fantasea · 03/08/2023 10:11

Not only have they never heard of contraception, they are all so fertile as well. Even women in their fifties such as Sharon and Denise can have babies so easily.

Lily will be a shoo in for Oxbridge after all the tutoring she's getting.

🙂

Interesting episode. Lots going on.

I really felt for Freddie. He very much is the opposite of his Dad.

Sonia could be up the duff duff? How would that work with coma wife. I take it that Debbie isn't brain stem dead, but just has no level of functioning. How long has she been like this for? I predict a weird storyline.

I wish they'd get on with bringing Cindy back if they are going to. Although I really am not seeing how it will work.

I sort of wish theo wasn't a perv and just a nice character. Teachers are never normal people in EE.

The dynamic between the characters in EE feel a bit off for me, like nobody is really gelling or getting on. Anyone else? I think the overuse of blackmail storylines and box ticking of real life issues without exploring them properly and realisticly isn't working. I did think Lola's storyline was great, but all else I can remember is a bit of unconvincing blackmail and now two kids looking for lost parents.

I just read back that last paragraph and thought I accidentally wrote 'over use of botox' 😂

When Theo is nice and normal like he was with Stacey last night then it’s really nice, but yes agree that most teachers are evil on Enders.

Agree poignant with Bobby Brazier character re his mum but he’s had a long time without his mum, not that it makes it easier. I like his interaction with Bobby as friends, they both bring a nice if unexpected friendship out.

Eastie77Returns · 03/08/2023 18:44

Bobby B’s real life dad always seemed quite level headed and did a good job bringing up two boys when their mum died in a very upsetting and public forum. They are a credit to him.

Yes they are

Seems crazy jade has been dead 14yrs

Was also thinking Jeff Brazier did a great job bringing up his boys..

Thebirdhouse · 03/08/2023 19:54

Agree. They did a similar friendship role with Ben and Jay. And these friendships work and are nice viewing.

They can't seem to ever do the same for female characters. Sonja and Dot had that friendship but it was more of a generational friendship. Sharon and Linda had it but they interrupt it with frequent fallouts which is a pity. Bernie had it with Ted but he left. They hinted that Lola and Kim had it but it was more tied to her death storyline than otherwise. I suppose Stacey and Eve have it yet when Eve needed help, she left the Square to sort out her head instead of relying on Stacey (who is too busy and preoccupied with her own family). It would be good if they could set up some proper, strong female friendships.

Eastie77Returns · 03/08/2023 21:14

They had strong female friendships in the past: Sharon and Michelle (the original Michelle, not the abomination of an actress who replaced her); Bianca and Tiffany; Pat and Peggy became frenemies when they moved past the whole Frank issue. I think way back when Kathy and Angie were best friends.

But it’s true that these days they don’t really have good examples of women forging proper friendships. I think they are shaping up to do this with Kathy and Elaine, probably strengthened by a mutual dislike of Cindy if she ever turns up!

What actually made Reiss go off on such a massive rant about kids? Apart from him being drunk I mean. I really don't get what Sonia sees in him 🤔

Same!
I can't stand him.
When Son firmly said she did not want to spend her time off sitting with Debbie , he was so snide and petty.

CrustyWingshield · 03/08/2023 22:51

Perhaps Mr Todger Town is very impressive when he gets his big brass horn out.

I quite like Reiss. He is an odd character but Ilike the fact he doesn't wade in to situations shouting and waving his fists like everyone else and does his pass ag strops instead. It"s a bit more realistic. I think in a years time the act might dampen down a bit.

I sort of wish Sonia went through some sexual revolution and kept that vegan naked hippy guy too and EE did its first polygamy storyline. Has that been done in a soap yet? It's a nice change from wall to wall blackmail. Maybe Louis Theroux could do a cameo and come and drop by and raise his eyebrows too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2023 23:01

@Meredusoleil on. He has a big todger

Todger town 😂

Did anyone else think it was really inappropriate of Sonia to be talking to Whitney, of all people, about a potential unwanted pregnancy after her baby died very recently?!

Polyamory was done in Neighbours, the best of all the soaps 😍

CherryCokeFanatic · 04/08/2023 08:29

Oh so they were using condoms apparently. He’d rush to get them if she had a bath with the door open?! 😂

Well at least super Nurse Sonia was practising the safe sex she no doubt preaches

AutumnalLeaves38 · 04/08/2023 10:15

Wow. That was an amazing performance by Bobby Brazier. So real, especially the wobbly-lipped crying.

All the more poignant that it's so completely opposite to Freddie's usual cheerful, fun, positive personality.

So true to his character that, whilst processing such horrendous stuff himself, he was concerned about how Mo must have felt by being reminded for 20 years of FuckwitFoster, just through her son's very existence 😢

Lovely scene between Freddie and Gina.

(Though they really need to improve roof access security at The Vic.
Bradley and Abi Branning both killed by falling off it...Lauren Branning luckily survived, after falling off it...Max Branning contemplated suicide from it, Stacey (with baby Arthur) when very ill with post-partum psychosis...and now Freddie ends up there. Bloody hell. Locks, people. LOCKS).

After Gina's deep and meaningful with Jay as well, she could soon become the Square's dispenser of empathy and wisdom to other people. Shame her relapse into coke habit will inevitably cloud her judgement towards herself and cause shit for those close to her.

Must admit her and Anna's bathroom scene was well done, too.

Honey definitely picked up on Ben's ED. She'd be hyper-aware, after her own experience.

Best episode since the flashforward one for me.

It's certainly a sunnier soap😅

AutumnalLeaves38 · 04/08/2023 11:56

It is that. Literally! ☀

Must admit I've not watched it since about 1989, so have no clue about how it measures up against the gold standard of soaps, IMO Eastenders nowadays.

I thought it had been axed a year or so ago...the press made a big deal about Kylie returning as Charlene for the final ep, I thought?!

They all seem to wander through the bar /door. Up the stairs the unlock the door that was never there before to find a rare outside /garden /patio space in London.
