I was disappointed when it started thinking it was some kind of documentary but it was actually really good! Really enjoyed that 👏🏻

Hellocatshome · 15/07/2023 22:07

Well it was a bit weird but OK I guess. I know obviously the people speaking to camera weren't actors but were some of the people in the story not actors as well (although acting a part) such as the woman who apologised and the one who was having her 75th birthday? There was some questionable acting going on.

SgtCatherineCawood · 15/07/2023 22:44

@Hellocatshome I think it was all supposed to be documentary style even with the regular Casualty actors.

It took me a minute to realise it was Eli from Holby. I was actually thinking oh they've missed a trick there they could have brought in a Holby actor then realised they did 🫣

Bagpuss2022 · 15/07/2023 22:54

Just put this on 5 minutes in it’s a bit strange not sure going to enjoy this

spiderlight · 15/07/2023 23:00

I thought Eli looked vaguely familiar!! The beard threw me though. Good episode, I thought.

SgtCatherineCawood · 15/07/2023 23:28

I enjoyed the episode but yet again we were left with a half finished storyline. Did he lose his leg? Above or below knee amputation? It's almost like the writers get bored and wander off before they've finished writing it!

LIZS · 15/07/2023 23:33

Yes he had had his leg amputated. The timeframes seemed a bit loose , with the guy waiting for six hours yet the accident victim had been admitted, scanned and had complex surgery in the meantime. Presumably the old lady would have been one of the first born under NHS.

truelips · 16/07/2023 01:57

Agree, very strange episode. It feels different as usually casualty episodes focus on the staff and their personal dramas and then the patients. I like how they focused solely on the patients in this episode.. gives us a dramatised insight into day to day workings on an a&e department in the uk

MyTruthIsOut · 16/07/2023 07:20

I really enjoyed the episode - it was nice to see a softer side to Stevie.

Optimist1 · 16/07/2023 08:38

I wasn't really looking forward to this, but loved it. Thankfully no Charlie Fairhead Lecture on the NHS!

SoupDragon · 16/07/2023 09:05

I thought it was very well done as it genuinely looked like a fly on the wall documentary. The feel was entirely different. I do agree that some of the supporting acting was a bit off though. I wondered whether they were NHS workers acting rather than actors.

We had exactly the same thought about real NHS workers. I hope so. Loved this episode, as PP said, it had a completely different feel and much grittier.

bizzey · 16/07/2023 10:06

In the credits there were alot of names being put to the extras eg I think the policeman got named.

So I think they were "real workers" as opposed to extras .

We were told he had his leg amputated immediately after the heart operation.

Kiwano · 16/07/2023 10:11

Was some of the dialogue ad libbed? It felt a bit like it.

Whatthetrolley · 16/07/2023 20:50

Was about to say was it unscripted as was very wooden in places, usual actors not any of the extras. (pp who mentioned writers walking away, I'm not sure they even turned up!!)

unvillage · 17/07/2023 23:58

Last time Iain was in a helicopter it crashed on the hospital forecourt! He didn't mention that to Amartya 😆

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2023 19:26

Just seen last weeks ans agree seemed strange

Hope tomorrow is back to normal

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 22:52

What was the comment 'safe home' about from Charlie at the beginning

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 23:37

I don't like Sah.
Never been that keen on her

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 23:39

And I couldn't care less about Jan and thingy's relationship.

And I think Faith's right. She doesn't love Ian like that.
I don't think they're right together

mayorofcasterbridge · 23/07/2023 02:57

I like Sah. I think Faith does love Iain but she unfortunately loves the drugs more. For now.

I love Jan and I don't think Ffion is worthy of her, most of the time.
