How do we know he likes men? I must have been distracted.

HobnobsChoice · 20/06/2023 00:37

He was assumed to be flirting with the Detective that brought in the Vietnamese women who were either traffickers or had been trafficked. Copper asked for his number and Ryan declined and the copper said oh I thought you were ..and Ryan said he was but not interested. Something like that. And Donna told him off for flirting with the copper too

SoupDragon · 20/06/2023 07:54

I was confused about Ryan too. I was surprised last week when he was flirting with the copper and surprised again this week. I guess he must be bisexual rather than gay.

Walkingtheplank · 20/06/2023 07:55

Thank you. I think I must have missed a whole episode!

spiderlight · 20/06/2023 15:36

Very disappointed they didn't have to "activate the major haemorrhage protocol" this week. It's been said in every single episode in the last couple of months. Last week it was activated before the title theme.

"Activate the major haemorrhage protocol" is the new "FBC's, U's and E's, cross-match, group and save".

Why did they not say it with the stab victim? Most disappointing!

what are Us and Es anyway?

SoupDragon · 20/06/2023 16:12

No pneumothorax this week either. I'm shit hot at diagnosing those now.

bizzey · 20/06/2023 16:22

U's and e's are for electrolytes and urea.
Something to do with potassium and magnesium levels that can affect heart rates.

I can spot a tampanade a mile off. I love diagnosing things before the doctors (which, to be fair, isn't difficult half the time). Between Casualty, Holby City (RIP) and Grey's Anatomy, I could probably do a passable shift at our local hospital.

Me too!
im always shouting out to dh ‘it’s a pneumothorax, get the bic out!’

JustDanceAddict · 20/06/2023 18:02

Whenever they say ‘tamepenade’ I think of olive tapenade!

I think ffion is miserable and controlling. I don't understand her being with Jan, they are so different. And completely irrelevant and I have no reasoning, but their house doesn't seem the kind of house they would have either.

I think the woman's a saint. I can't imagine putting up with housing your partner's seriously annoying ex for what feels like weeks on end, let alone accepting her smuggling drugs into prisons, FFS.

daffodilandtulip · 20/06/2023 18:27

Yes that's a good point! Still think they're an odd match though.

Oh, me too. Mind you, it is kind of a help when the camera keeps lingering on the relevant swollen joint or bruise or watery eye or whatever, or the patient hams up the clutching at his heart, stomach, or whichever bit is affected. And on these programmes, whenever anyone looks shifty when asked if they've been taking something, you know they've been on illegal drugs or obscure Chinese remedies; if a woman looks shifty when asked if she could be pregnant, she always is. No need for any expensive laboratory testing using those tried-and-tested diagnostic methods.

Last night was a good episode.
I love Rida !!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 25/06/2023 08:43

A lot of Faith though. I just WISH she’d brush her hair and get a decent cut. Am glad Ryan told Stevie the truth - Jodie slagging him off to Rida in the way she did really put me off her character.

Whatafool123 · 25/06/2023 09:20

That boy with meningitis got sorted rather easily though, didn't he? I find it frustrating how they lose interest in some stories so quickly. The poor boy who didn't get a heart last week, for example 🤔 (or maybe I missed his conclusion).

JustDanceAddict · 25/06/2023 09:33

Thank goodness Ian has found Faith’s stash!
So did the boy drunk the benzo juice as well as having meningitis? I know it can come on quickly (meningitis), but that fast with a rash - which they say it often the last symptom to appear.

Hellocatshome · 25/06/2023 09:52

I hope Iain doesn't help Faith cover this up. Dylan already said normally he would have reported Faith as a safeguarding concern based on the child (who either did or didn't overdose) having access to drugs at her house. She shouldn't get away with it just because she is a nurse.

Unrealistic that she would tape them inside the toilet when she lives alone with her not tiny children. Surely her underwear drawer would have surficed.

bizzey · 25/06/2023 14:50

And surely if you are going to snort a line of whatever she is taking ,you do it privately in a bedroom or something....not in the kitchen !

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/06/2023 21:12

Finally up to date and last nights as well!

Yes Ryan is gay but doesn't want his crew who sit on the kiddi room that is always empty know

Or that's my take on it

Hence he had sex with Jodie. Who said he was crap

Why don't they just say they are father and daughter. Be much easier

Finally ian knows about her drug problem

I assumed the boy knocked the drink over as over the Carpet and didn't drink
Or when having a fit a

Jacobs new gf does sex online ? Like Stacey from ee?

I thought last nights was good brilliant acting and good storyline I usually can see things coming but that explosion was totally unexpected

Me neither. I was expecting something to happen to the man who owned the pub, like he lost it or something or we at least got more of his story only struggling with his business.

Though I suppose it's in line with Casualty moving away from being about patients to being about staff (which also explains the endless unfinished or half-hearted patient story)

Thought it was interesting what a PP wrote (possibly in the previous thread) about long-running programmes switching near their end to being staff centric.
