Radio Times says

It used to be the case that Casualty was the load-bearing wall of BBC1’s Saturday-night schedule, but its absence these past few months has proven that the channel can survive just fine without it. To the point where I’ve been wondering whether the show now has a long-term future. Sure, it has its loyal fans, but are any new viewers finding their way to the doors of Holby’s ED?

Yes it has left us loyal fans worried that the BBC don't think it has enough of a future. That is the worry

purpleme12 · 29/12/2023 23:35

Anyway it's back on tomorrow...

But for how long 🥺

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2023 08:51

Will it be 6mths time and Donna released/seen walking out of prison gates

Decafflatteplease · 30/12/2023 12:40

Looking forward to watching tonight 🙂

spiderlight · 30/12/2023 21:34

Heads up - it's now on iPlayer from first thing on the Saturday morning so you can watch it early. I've just finished it. Dylan's had a terrible haircut but I won't say any more than that! I don't think Donna is coming back though.

Citrusandginger · 30/12/2023 22:14

And yet Faith is?

Quick chat with HR and the stealing drugs from patients is fine apparently. NMC registration issues whatsoever.

On another note, I also noticed Charlie wearing a Royal College of Nursing badge. I'm sure he was a hardline COHSE stalwart back in the day. He'd deffo be in Unison today and not the RCN.

purpleme12 · 30/12/2023 22:59

Yes I noticed it was on first thing Saturday morning.

But I don't watch before it's on Tele. I'm like @Blondeshavemorefun 🤣

I loved having it back

unvillage · 30/12/2023 23:05

Why is Charlie nodding sagely when Rash says that Ashok should be at home? He of all people knows how impossibly difficult that would be. He at least should be telling Rash the realities of caring for someone deep in dementia. And how there's no way Rash can work while doing that.

purpleme12 · 30/12/2023 23:11

Forget about reality people 🤣 Casualty doesn't work like that just enjoy it for what it is!

Whatthetrolley · 30/12/2023 23:33

It's only on for 12 episodes, I think this is the steady slope of no return

spiderlight · 30/12/2023 23:44

I read somewhere that it's going to be on for 36 weeks a year from now on, in three 12-week blocks.

Whatthetrolley · 31/12/2023 00:04

That's a bit more reassuring!

How did Faith manage to jump the queue in front of ambulance woman and find a bed???

Oh I like his hair (not that my opinion really matter’s haha), liked the short mullet when he had it a few years back and still like it..

Pretty sure it was very similar with Connie, she even walked straight back into the Clinical lead job.

purpleme12 · 31/12/2023 01:13

I thought everyone might be so happy it was back they'd leave up on the errors in the programme! 🤣

Honestly I don’t mind about the errors as much these days, i’m very used to it now!

Just mentioning that i was sure it was similar with Connie with the added ‘being put back in charge’ again, so expected them to do the same with Faith 😂

purpleme12 · 31/12/2023 01:30

I'm not bothered about the errors either to be honest (unless it's a glaring error with the character's personality) but so many people like to mention the errors on these threads!

HobnobsChoice · 31/12/2023 06:38

Charlie had about 8 lines and most of these were just "oh right?". His uselessness seemed more apparent than ever. He was making the off duty all shift and then standing around. What dirt does Derek Thompson have on the BBC to still not have been written out.

purpleme12 · 31/12/2023 10:21

Oh dear

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 31/12/2023 11:09

I enjoyed that episode. Definitely some raised eyebrows on a couple of HR decisions but lots going on, suitably dramatic bits, the inevitability of the woman in the ambulance’s ending, the political stuff is dead on.

My only issue when they do these episodes about the total critics point things are in is that the next episode they are inevitably back to normal with no ambulance queue in sight etc. But then you wouldn’t have much of a drama if every time you just saw the paramedics on the forecourt for 45 mins.

purpleme12 · 31/12/2023 11:37

Glad to hear positive comment 🙂

Sometimes I wonder if people like it on here there are so many negative comments or nitpicking about stuff.

Citrusandginger · 31/12/2023 11:49

The political stuff was a feature of Casualty at the beginning. When years of conservative underfunding had undermined the NHS. It's good to see it being featured in the drama again, but I wish for once it was just a story.

I’ve watched it from the start and remember it all well. It’s always chucked in the odd political episode but I guess the problem now is that things are so poor they can’t ignore them but also can’t be derailed by them.

Citrusandginger · 31/12/2023 14:19

True! If it was too accurate it would be acutely depressing.
