Indeed @purpleme12 I like tv pace

Just seen

I actually thought it was rubbish tbh

Even nodded off a little I think

unvillage · 06/01/2024 23:02

Are we building up to some murder mystery? That's two episodes now that have ended with someone being hauled off yelling at a staff member "I'll remember you, I know who you are!" Stevie and Charlie so far.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 07/01/2024 09:05

Derek Thompson said that he came up with the idea for Charlie’s exit and I can imagine that sort of thing might feature.

AnImaginaryCat · 07/01/2024 11:54

I'm a bit worried that the budget will be blown on the number of extras!!

Lots of aggressive patients - even o especially that aren't a storyline - it must be leading to something. Charliexit going to be dramatic!!

Do you think Ryan is gone for good? That's two of the newbies (well new to Casualty) gone quite quick!

Does anybody find the sound quality in Casualty particularly poor? There's usually a constant drone, which sashays into 'dramatic' tuneless thumps at times of 'jeopardy'. And the background noise of a busy department is so loud that it drowns out the actors that speak quietly or mumble, and I often miss bits of what they are saying. I keep changing the settings on the sound, but it's really dire. No problem with most programmes, and I'm not hard of hearing! Just Casualty.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 07/01/2024 14:02

Bit disappointing to see another new character leave so soon (alongside Max, I mean, although I know he hasn’t gone yet). I wish they’d give them time to bed in properly - although I suppose it might be the actor’s choice to go? I imagine in Nigel Harman’s case, he chose to leave - but it does beg the question of why he decided to join in the first place!

WetherspoonsSnob · 07/01/2024 14:47

Just logged in again after a long time out to say "Chexit means Chexit and we're going to make a success of it" 😂

@FizzingAda can you put subtitles on? I'm deaf so have subtitles on permanently 🙂

FizzingAda · 07/01/2024 19:59

Decafflatteplease, I think I will have to do that!

Still it’s better than when they introduced about a dozen new doctors way back in 2009?ish, and killed one of them off before the end of the episode 😂 they all disappeared, bar three, within a few episodes.

purpleme12 · 07/01/2024 22:47

I love Rida

purpleme12 · 07/01/2024 22:48

Jan wants Teddy to collect the ashes with her even though he shopped her to the police and clearly thinks it's wrong the police have dropped the charges

mayorofcasterbridge · 08/01/2024 17:30

Disappointed that Ryan's gone so quickly, and sad that Max is leaving.

Sure Teddy only knew Gethin five minutes!!

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 08/01/2024 19:32

I thought the whole ‘Teddy being dumped but not really dumped’ thing was unlikely. I think it’s reasonable to think that when someone says they don’t want to be engaged to you any more that it’s a dumping, and if they meant anything else by it they might say that!

Charlie is being given more to do now, I see. I thought he was good this week - standing up for his staff. I wish they could have made more use of him in the years since Duffy died

I agree with you about Teddy and Paige. After what Paige said to him, I thought: right, they’re over! and then her voicemail was a WTF moment! Nothing she said made it sound like she had ANY interest in continuing the relationship but I bet he and Jodie are the ones who end up feeling guilty and like they’ve done something wrong.

spiderlight · 09/01/2024 10:35

Teddy and Jodie are a much more plausible couple anyway.

I liked the new nurse, Ngozi. She seems to be vaguely competent and she handled the bereaved father well.

Dawn of the ED! I loved that era. Heather got killed in a burning mall when a lift fell on her. Lenny, Yuki and May were great characters. I think it was May who was a bit of a nepo baby and accidentally broke a patient's neck.

AnImaginaryCat · 09/01/2024 17:21

It's weird isn't it bringing in new characters for such a short time.

Makes me thing the actor contract for Casualty are like how contracts onder if Holby contracts - no notice needed.

They were glorious days. Adam Truman as clinical lead (before it all went so wrong for him). Lenny was a brilliant character - the actor is now in Shetland with a lovely range of woolly jumpers and a dog collar, which seems very strange when you see him as Lenny!

UsernameChangerRanger · 09/01/2024 21:33

Just catching up. Enjoyed the episode but I want to ask about Ryan. Surely you'd stick around off sick for the pay THEN leave? Not walk out of hospital without a job or income?

Also Ngozi is lovely I hope she becomes permanent

purpleme12 · 09/01/2024 21:36

I can see that he wasn't thinking straight so I can kind of forgive him for that.

However I fully expected someone to say go home take some time you don't have to make a decision now but whichever way you decide is ok but don't make a decision now.
But no one did

UsernameChangerRanger · 09/01/2024 21:38

I was expecting that too, because they're doing a massive "nurses are skint" major storyline in the making with Rida

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 09/01/2024 21:40

I thought that was weird too - why on earth was Charlie pressuring him to want to be back in the ED when he was still pretty battered.

Well, it would be weird if it wasn’t obvious the writers wanted the storyline over and the character shuffled off. I suppose Ryan’s character is lucky they didn’t just bump him off for a nice clean break!

Decafflatteplease · 10/01/2024 11:37

Did anyone else feel last week's was a bit flat? Like there wasn't a proper storyline? The mum under the car I was expecting them to make something more out of it, and then the carbon monoxide mum I thought it was odd that the mum had high levels and baby had low, thought they were going to go somewhere with that. Also the Jodie teddy thing, like an hour after Paige calls off tbe engagement he's bedding Jodie, all seems a bit odd, or maybe I'm old fashioned 😂
