Oh finally
I will try and keep up weekly

purpleme12 · 07/12/2023 15:56

@Decafflatteplease it's not a new series.
They put a massive break on after just a couple of episodes of the new series had been on.
All very strange.
However I'm very excited about it coming back

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/12/2023 16:42

Nigel Harman could probably have done Strictly during the filming break and come back 🤣

Optimist1 · 07/12/2023 18:46

Thanks for the heads up - I think this is by far the longest break Casualty's had, sin't it?

In recent years maybe. Early series were only on September to December ish.

I've been watching old series on UKTV play. How different it would have been if Charlie had stuck to his resignation plan when he turned 40!

purpleme12 · 07/12/2023 18:55

Yes it is
I do encourage as much people as possible to complain about the gap.
I don't think we'll be able to change the fact that they've reduced the amount of episodes.
But if enough people complain that the big gap is not between each series like it should be I think they'd listen.

HumerousHumous · 07/12/2023 18:58

I was under the impression that lack of Casualty is due to bloody Strictly taking up the whole of Saturday evening including results show. Too late at 10ish to get good ratings?

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/12/2023 19:00

@HumerousHumous it's not been on since 16th September

purpleme12 · 07/12/2023 19:09

The BBC have used busy scheduling as one of their excuses.

Yes. I don't watch Strictly, not keen, but does it not begin in early September? I recall looking at the TV listings and realising there would be little room in the schedule late on on a Saturday.

purpleme12 · 07/12/2023 19:56

And yet Strictly has been on for years as has Casualty and Casualty wasn't stopped for Strictly before. Anyway if they do the same stopping in the middle of a series next year I'll do another complaint again 🤣

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/12/2023 19:56

@HumerousHumous I don't watch it either but I've just googled and it does start then, I had no idea it went on for so many weeks 🤣🤣🤣

Kiwano · 07/12/2023 21:29

They're presumably going to have to adjust scripts around Nigel's broken rib or whatever his injury was.

He finished filming in August

purpleme12 · 07/12/2023 22:07

Yes.
For a major character be didn't stay very long

Mysa74 · 09/12/2023 08:43

At last!!
Fingers crossed that the new episodes are compelling, 9:15 is a late start time for me Grin

JustDanceAddict · 09/12/2023 08:45

No Xmas special?!

Kiwano · 09/12/2023 09:57

The gap gives time for Donna to have served her prison sentence, presumably. But would she be allowed back as a nurse?

EBearhug · 09/12/2023 10:28

Are you comparing Holby rules with every other hospital in Britain?

purpleme12 · 09/12/2023 10:34

JustDanceAddict · 09/12/2023 08:45

No Xmas special?!

I think they've stopped doing things like this 🙁

spiderlight · 20/12/2023 09:53

Help! Does anyone remember the name of the character/actor in the middle right of this pic - the Asian guy next to Sam, in red? We've just met him in the park walking his (gorgeous) dog and he stopped to fuss our dog. I was standing there like a muppet thinking 'You've been in Casualty!' but it's driving me mad now trying to remember the character, plus I need to prove I'm right to DH 😆
It would have been late 90s/early 200s, I think.

spiderlight · 20/12/2023 09:54

Flipping picture didn't post! Sorry.

Found him - Adam Osman (Pal Aron)

Oh that's a good point

So prob say on screen 6mths mater

Or she comes out after serving 6mths

purpleme12 · 23/12/2023 15:10

I don't know, you might be giving Casualty too much credit for continuity here 🤣
