Didn't expect Donna to go dooooooown

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2023 14:47

Oh wow. Just seen Saturdays casualty. Tears streaming down my face

Very sad but portrayed beautifully and I do believe everyone has the right to choose if poorly /disabled - you can put an ill/old animal down but can’t help someone die with dignity if they want to in this country 💕

ChrisPPancake · 18/09/2023 20:11

Anyone got any idea when it's back?

No.
On one of the Facebook groups some are saying later in the Autumn while others are saying early January.

unvillage · 18/09/2023 21:10

I love Donna, I hope she comes back :(

Kiwano · 18/09/2023 22:23

I'll be quite glad if Sah goes. I don't think the writers really had much of an idea about what to do with the character.

AnImaginaryCat · 19/09/2023 00:28

Whatthetrolley · 18/09/2023 00:36

No one's mentioned Sa resigning, let's see if they work their notice!

Sah resigned?

Well totally missed that!! Can't say I'm sad - such an irritating character.

Teddy can leave too. Then we can get two decent paramedic characters please.

I'd settle for Dixie and Jeff. I mean I know it would mean bringing Jeff back from the dead but I'm sure they could sort something. This is the world of Holby!

She did resign but I'm not convinced they'll carry through with it yet...

They did resign.

I managed to miss Sah resigning too!

Kiwano · 19/09/2023 09:20

unvillage · 19/09/2023 02:01

They did resign.

The pont is that they left a resignation letter for Jan which Jan presumably hasn't yet seen. So, given that this is Holby, there is still the chance that Sah will for some reason as yet unknown take the letter back, or Jan won't see it, or Jan will persuade them to stay. In Holby, the people who really do leave are the ones who bugger off with no notice, though even then some of them turn up again a few years later. No resignation in Holby is a done deal till they walk out on the closing credits, preferably with one last wistful look back.

spiderlight · 19/09/2023 11:49

I was surprised at Donna's sentence - I was expecting a longer Donna/Max/Dylan storyline but it sounds as if she won't be back. With her and Faith out of action, I guess we'll have yet more new nurses in the new series.

The Switzerland episode was superb - hats off to both actors. Such an important issue to address. I hope Jan doesn't end up in prison, although I concur that we need a new Jeff-and-Dixie style paramedic team.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2023 12:02

I watched Switzerland last night. So emotional and brilliantly done.

Technically Jan did "assist" as he would not have been able to go without her. I would have thought the police would have been more sympathetic in the way they treated her though.

it's horrific really that people are allowed to suffer and their loved ones can be prosecuted for helping them fulfil their wishes. I know there needs to be protection for vulnerable people but there must be a better way. I had to have my dog PTS last week and he went from suffering to at peace in seconds. I had to watch my parents suffer.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2023 12:03

(It occurs to me that I was perhaps not in the right emotional state to watch that episode!)

spiderlight · 19/09/2023 12:51

So very sorry about your dog, @SoupDragon. It's the last and kindest gift of pure love, but it never gets easier.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2023 14:08

((Hugs)) @SoupDragon

Teddy is to blame for Jan then

His uncle wanted to die

Jan didn't make or kill him

No @unvillage was pointing out that the previous poster said 'she did resign'

No one has ever been convicted of helping someone go to Switzerland to die. They do get brought in for questioning though.

I was reading about the 23 year old rugby player who went earlier and his parents were both taken in for questioning along with the family doctor.

EnglishSpringerSpanielMum · 25/09/2023 18:39

My insightful contribution to the discussion about the Switzerland episode - I have the same pyjamas as Jan. Marks and Spencers finest 😄

Decafflatteplease · 07/12/2023 14:38

Does anybody know when a new series is on please?

LIZS · 07/12/2023 14:41

Heard 30th December

SoupDragon · 07/12/2023 14:42

New scheduling released by the BBC today has confirmed that the medical drama will return to BBC One on Saturday, December 30 at 9.15pm.

(I didn't want to include the link but I can't remove it on an edit!)

BBC One - Casualty, A History of Violence, Tinderbox

Taking on more responsibility, Stevie is tested to breaking point.

LIZS · 07/12/2023 14:45

I wonder if it will be like Neighbours and have moved the timeline on so plot restarts anew.

EBearhug · 07/12/2023 14:50

I hope they do it better than Neighbours if so...

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/12/2023 14:57

If it comes back on and they act like Gethin just died last week it will be annoying 🤔
