spiderlight · 27/08/2023 08:03

ChrisPPancake · 26/08/2023 23:54

Maybe there was a barber in the waiting area?

🤣🤣

LIZS · 27/08/2023 09:12

Is Donna hoping this will get Max on her side? If she gets sent to prison he is hardly going to step in for her kids.

SoupDragon · 27/08/2023 09:22

No, I think Donna just wanted a shag... in the office that's very visible to everyone walking past.... 😂😂

DerekFaker · 27/08/2023 16:26

Casualty suffers from the same 'issue-led' writing as the soaps do today. It ends up being very heavy-handed in the messages it's trying to get across. The man with the knife was such a cartoon villain.

Bagpuss2022 · 27/08/2023 17:10

I noticed the haircuts too! Mentioned it to DH I felt last nights show tried to shoe horn too much into the episode

islamann · 27/08/2023 18:08

Watching it I thought ooh MN won't like a trans woman being portrayed positively and treated like a human!

Podgedodge · 27/08/2023 18:33

Not the first time that’s happened on Casualty@islamann .
And sympathetic portrayal not an issue usually, I thought it was well done.

spiderlight · 27/08/2023 19:29

The villain might have been cartoonish but he gave me horrible nightmares last night. No idea why!

DerekFaker · 27/08/2023 21:25

The spitting was truly horrible and did make me recoil!

purpleme12 · 27/08/2023 22:42

I felt like the stabbing thing was supposed to be this really hyped up event for us as viewers and was supposed to be seen as this big thing... But in reality I didn't feel it

Me neither. Why didn't they show us sny of it? Very strange episode!

spiderlight · 28/08/2023 12:40

There's none of the suspense of these incidents building any more. Everyone just arrives on a trolley with no back-story. I guess it's cheaper to just film most of it on the set but it's nowhere near as good.

Kiwano · 28/08/2023 12:42

There's been a real shift in the way episodes are written nowadays. They used to start with a slow tantalising build-up to the main case that is going to be featured, whilst all of us played Spot the Accident/illness. Nowadays, with one or two exceptions (usually involving staff members) we seem just to be told that the accident or whatever has already happened and the victims are coming in.

You could argue that that is more representative of working in A&E, but for the fact that main reasoning behind it usually seems to be to allow more time for some tedious further episodes in the staff members' personal lives.

Bring back the speeding car/man going up rickety ladder/person with dodgy electrics/person gulping dodgy pills/child playing on thin ice, I say. Those were the days.

DerekFaker · 28/08/2023 12:50

Yes I miss those days. Guessing what the accident was going to be and who waa going to get injured was half the fun of Casualty!

Kiwano · 28/08/2023 12:58

And I became a brilliant diagnostician with those old-style episodes. Intermittent stomach pains in a woman? Labour. Clutching chest? Heart problems or, in an unsympathetic character, indigestion. Kid with mystery symptoms and ultra possessive parent? Munchausens by proxy. Kid with unexplained fractures but sympathetic parent whom nasty consultant suspects of abuse? Brittle bone disease to be diagnosed by Charlie. Little old lady gets photos of family/pet out? About to snuff it.

Really, I'm a dreadful loss to the medical profession.

ConstancetheGardener · 26/08/2023 22:11

Well it's one way of polishing the desk.

😝😂

MyTruthIsOut · 28/08/2023 16:30

Casualty has absolutely lost the plot!

I know it’s not really based on reality but Donna and Max shagging on the desk in the middle of the day with the blinds open?

That’s way beyond the realms of ridiculous!

And I thought Rida was a total bitch last night - and I don’t think she’ll ever be able to redeem herself in my eyes.

purpleme12 · 28/08/2023 16:32

She was a bitch.
But she said sorry

SoupDragon · 28/08/2023 17:59

To be fair to Rida, she'd just been in an extremely stressful/emotional/frightening situation and had dislocated her shoulder so had been in pain. I don't think her being short with Rash was that surprising.

PollyThePixie · 29/08/2023 04:14

The actress who plays Rida is pretty awful at what she does.

SoupDragon · 29/08/2023 08:12

I don't think she's any worse than any of the others.

SoupDragon · 29/08/2023 08:13

New Nurse who moons over Jodie is dreadful (Cameron?). I'm not sure whether it's his acting or how he's been told to play the character though.

Spidey66 · 29/08/2023 10:32

Isn't he Bradley Walsh's son?

purpleme12 · 29/08/2023 10:35

Yes I think so
