I'd forgotten all about Mads! So when the BBC made a big deal about Rida being the first hijab-wearing nurse, that wasn't actually correct?

I bet Jodie will end up donating a kidney to Max, but they'll drag it out for months first.

Max needs a transplant and a long recovery time so Nigel Harman can do Strictly 😂

purpleme12 · 13/08/2023 22:54

Oh my god she's actually saying she's got cancer 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Whatafool123 · 14/08/2023 11:43

Yes, it's amazing how they can even perform complete personality transplants in the Holby A&E. Faith is turning into a truly terrible person, from someone who used to be pretty nice.

Hellocatshome · 14/08/2023 12:20

To be fair Faith probably had a "good enough" excuse for stealing drugs already without lying about cancer. Her son nearly died from a brain tumour, her daughter was in a school shooting, her husband came out as gay and then died in a horrible accident.

SoupDragon · 14/08/2023 12:45

Plus being drugged and raped/assaulted by that man.

I think it fits. She addicted to drugs, diazapam,
So I think the change in personality fits
It makes people horrible doesn't it

SoupDragon · 14/08/2023 21:37

I agree. Addicts lie.

Kiwano · 15/08/2023 00:38

I wonder whether Max at least has the right to check Faith's medical records, or at least get them checked by HR to check her fitness to work.

Spidey66 · 15/08/2023 14:25

Surely Faith doesn't think the cancer story will stick? She's surrounded by medics ffs. Plus she works for the NHS who would expect her to be off sick with that diagnosis.

SoupDragon · 15/08/2023 16:11

She panicked and just grabbed onto what the patient said about people letting you get away with things when you have cancer (or words to that effect). I don't think she's through it through at all - the look on her face when Stevie came out with all the support stuff and mentioned speaking to her oncologist.

I'm not entirely sure Stevie believes her TBH.

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 15/08/2023 16:54

Dylan clocked Max’s kidney failure at a glance (he’s like a one man diagnostics machine 😂) so I’m pretty sure he won’t be fooled by Faith’s absurd (and offensive) lie. Faith was always a selfish, annoying idiot, so I don’t think this is a huge development.

FizzingAda · 15/08/2023 17:38

Stevie will be asking when she's having surgery, so how she will get round that I do not know.

MyTruthIsOut · 15/08/2023 17:50

It will somehow come out by Stevie and Iain having another one of their conversations where they each think they’re talking about the same thing.

Stevie will mention the cancer to him and it will go from there….

SoupDragon · 15/08/2023 18:50

Dylan knew about Max's prior kidney problems though. I don't think he just plucked it out of thin air. Although, given the writers' history, that can't be ruled out!

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 15/08/2023 23:56

Dylan was originally introduced as a sort of House-lite-esque diagnostics genius - I was joking, but really, it was quite a leap to Max’s kidney failure recurrence on the basis of what we saw, even with prior knowledge.

Either that or I wasn’t paying enough attention and there were obvious clues for Dylan that something was up - I can’t honestly say I was paying too much attention!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/08/2023 08:03

I really dislike Faith as a character. Her cloying ‘oh sweetheart’ stuff masks her essential selfishness and I’ve never seen a chatter less interested in their children. Even Max seems to have more parenting skills than she does.

On the other hand, I’ve really come to love Stevie despite her initial craziness when she joined the show. I just hope she unearths Faith’s lies and isn’t taken in by her for too long.

Sadly it won't be given that she's such a recent recruit, unless the actor wants to get out. I guess Max could go and give impassioned evidence about how dreadful it is that nurses have to get that exhausted and some judge will give her a fine and she will go back to work.

This.

She’ll get a rap on the knuckles for lying to the police and wasting their time etc but she’ll be back at work the next day.

I can’t quite work out why Jan is so angry seeing as she had initially helped Gethen try to end his life. Is she just angry because the Switzerland plan was hidden from her? Her reaction at the end of the episode seemed a bit OTT!

Kiwano · 20/08/2023 07:52

Something to do with the fact that she was chucked for lying, and now Ffion has been lying about essentially the same thing. I don't even understand why Ffion kept it quiet, surely it would have made sense for all three of them to discuss it together.

Dylan and Max trained together and have known each other for years, so Max must have had kidney problems before and Dylan recognises the signs.

I got the impression though that when Max joined A&E he and Dylan really, really didn’t like each other and there was some negative back story? It came across as though Max was an arrogant bully and that maybe Dylan had once been a victim. That’s the vibe I got.

I definitely didn’t get the sense of any kind of friendship or closeness of some sort that would signify any reason why Dylan would be privy Max’s health? I certainly can’t l imagine a scenario where many years ago Dylan was holding Max’s hand at the bedside whilst he was undergoing gruelling dialysis…. 😂

LIZS · 20/08/2023 11:35

They might have trained together but more than 20 years ago. Maybe Max had some sort of medical crisis back then but clearly they were not in contact during the intervening years or he may have sussed the situation with Jodie sooner.

Shelllc130 · 20/08/2023 14:03

The impression I got was that Max first had Kidney problems when he and Dylan were at Medical school together and Dylan was aware of that. Max probably wasn’t as secretive about it back then, as the only reason he is now is because he doesn’t want Jodie to know.

The backstory was that Dylan and Max’s friend killed herself after being abused by a professor. Max said that Dylan blamed himself because ‘he should’ve seen it coming’ and it all caused animosity between them.
