Charlie is the heart and soul of the ED. The backbone! How dare you question him?

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 31/07/2023 17:42

Dervla can’t still be going, surely. She wasn’t a young dog when he arrived at the ED 12 years ago. She must have shuffled off to doggy paradise by now.

I strongly suspect Charlie is now the ED ghost, which is why he never seems to do any actual work, other than haunting the staff.

Dinopawus · 31/07/2023 20:48

But but Charlie can get a light bulb replaced. Now that's power.

I don't blame Donna for lying due to mum suddenly having back pain /insurance job

Backfired for mum though as her son hasn't passed his test and now was going to be arrested

Not sure if Donna will confess

How old are her daughters meant to be

But even if the Mum put in an insurance claim for back injury etc it wouldn't come out of Donna's pocket so whilst annoying not really a motive for lying.

Dinopawus · 05/08/2023 15:08

In the real world, if the truth were to come out later, not only could Donna face criminal charges, but there would be a referral to the NMC regulator, where she could be suspended or removed from the nursing register.

As it's casualty though, I expect it will be forgotten next week.

Mia was 15 in one of the storylines towards the end of Holby. Amber was only little when Donna started back at Holby... I'd guess at 18 and maybe 11 ish now?

Yes, Ethan never did get done for murder, did he? I thought there was some sort of principle in TV drama that people shouldn't be seen to get away with serious crimes, but I suspect the writers just forgot all about it.

Poor Jodie! Just when she thinks she's turned a corner with Max, and he let's her down again. I can understand why Max is being like that, to avoid them bonding and her potentially getting hurt again due to his health issues but it's very tough.

Does any one think after last week's story with Rash and Rida in the play/prayer/doggy day care room that they will get together or pretend to to make Rash 's dad happy?

Kiwano · 05/08/2023 22:37

What are Max's health issues? Every time someone seemed to be saying what they were DH was making a noise. I know, LTB.

Dylan mentioned kidney failure. Probably only he and Max know what exactly is going on. Poor Jodie, the moment she tries to connect, he shoves her away.

I thought they were extremely quick to jump to issues with the mother and son, even though they turned out to be correct. Who would think Munchausens by proxy (now called Fabricated or Induced Illness) when there was nothing actually that wrong with the boy except, what was it, a vitamin deficiency? I thought she was just antivax at first.

Also what the heck is it with Casualty and unrealistic kid names. They're almost always called Bobby or Jimmy to this day. When was the last time you met an 11 year old called Bobby?

For suuuure it was setting something similar up. Rash's dad wants a nice Muslim wedding so Rash in desperation asks Rida to fake it, like Dixie did with her dad. Although Ashok already doesn't recognise Rash, so maybe not. Have we ever seen Rash practicing his faith before last week's prayer room interruption? Maybe he becomes a more devout Muslim believing he's doing what his father wants for him?

I loved Madiha Durrani back in the day, she was a hijabi nurse who in the course of a single year was introduced, was almost immediately raped by a taxi driver, removed her hijab because of it, had a weird relationship with noted arsehole Adam Trueman, also had an almost-thing with Lenny Lyons, then left with no ceremony. I think Rida is maybe the first hijabi character since Madi?

daffodilandtulip · 05/08/2023 23:02

Aren't there more ideas for storylines than "paramedic inside crashed vehicle with dripping fuel that explodes while paramedic drags patient out just as everyone ducks from the blast?"

I hope they’re not preparing us for a romance as if she’s a typical newly qualified nurse she’d only be about 21 years old whereas Rash must be a LOT older than that.

Im not sure it would look good if a mid 30’s senior Registrar was seen getting it on with a very junior nurse…

But this is Casualty where anything can happen….

Definitely hinting about Rash and Rida

spiderlight · 06/08/2023 00:06

I'd forgotten all about Mads! So when the BBC made a big deal about Rida being the first hijab-wearing nurse, that wasn't actually correct?

I bet Jodie will end up donating a kidney to Max, but they'll drag it out for months first.

Reckon you're right!

Yes, that was my first thought on hearing the words "kidney failure" too. I assume Max is pushing her away because of the potential for a live donor situation so that she doesn't feel obliged. Obviously that's where it's heading though - they aren't necessarily known for their subtlety on Casualty!

I assume she finds out when the failure gets to transplant levels, is a match, donates after much angst on both sides and then ends up in ICU because of it. Cue more guilt and angst on Max's part...

Kiwano · 06/08/2023 10:23

It was anaemia which could be symptomatic of a number of serious conditions up to and including cancer - in this case ultimately diagnosed as Thalassaemia.

Hellocatshome · 06/08/2023 10:28

Did anyone else notice Dylan seems to have almost super human diagnostic powers. He said something like "I know what liver failure looks like" but all we seemed to have seen is Max zoning out a little and generally seeming a bit distracted.

purpleme12 · 06/08/2023 10:30

I think Dylan knew because Max has had kidney failure before. And Dylan has known him when he's had it before. That's why he guessed

Hellocatshome · 06/08/2023 10:34

Ah yes I meant kidney failure. Ah I must have missed that bit.

SgtCatherineCawood · 12/08/2023 23:08

Wow Faith really is the worst 🤬

spiderlight · 12/08/2023 23:30

I hate what they're doing to Faith's character ☹️ Now we have two nurses living with stupid lies.

PollyThePixie · 13/08/2023 06:38

As someone who had stage 1 ovarian cancer I’m appalled at how they’ve introduced it to the storyline and made light of it.

When is the gormless Dr friend going to ask - how was it treated/when will you have your surgery.

By right Faith should have already been filleted like a fish to remove the ovaries at least, or be very close to having the surgery done.

I Despair. I really do.
