Watching it now.

I'm unsure why he put the mattress on the floor instead of sleeping on the bed

Fucking hell that knife and gun he pulled out 😮😮

I saw the woman with the mouldy flat which she said had been like it since she had her 11 year old twin. Why on earth did she have more kids knowing she was bringing them into that environment!!

Janedoe82 · 29/05/2023 00:24

Didn’t watch as I work in one of the most deprived estates in the UK so know what it is like and don’t see how this could be entertaining in any way. Just sad and depressing and complex.

feralunderclass · 29/05/2023 00:31

What estate is this set in?

I did think why did she have more children but she said she was on the pill and it didn't work?

OP posts:
Fullofpudding · 29/05/2023 00:33

Oh I missed that bit. Even so she had 2/3 more didn't she. I know life can be unfair and she should be able to have as many children as she wants but it breaks my heart when parents don't think of the consequences of bringing children into the wrong environment.

What estate is this set in?

This one is about Northumberland Park.
Think it's in Haringey?

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 00:39

It says Dionne's refused offers of temporary accommodation while they carry out repairs and has requested a permanent move to a larger property. Why would she refuse that?
And does that mean they've not done the repairs because they need her to move out?

OP posts:
Janedoe82 · 29/05/2023 00:44

Probably incase they arse about doing the repairs and she is stuck in the temporary accommodation for longer than she should be.
may also mess up her benefits.
may think she will get the bigger house quicker if she digs heels in.

purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 00:49

Oh right I just thought with her saying it's impacting on her son's health that she'd want that

OP posts:
Janedoe82 · 29/05/2023 00:50

Didn’t watch. But could also be to do with points for move. Will most likely use impact on health to get more points and speed up move to bigger house.

MyNewWittyUserName · 29/05/2023 01:12

I'm a few roads from there.

It's a grotty shithole. I didn't see the programme, I'll watch it on catch-up.

If its the Park Lane blocks, I worked on those as a resident liaison officer, years ago and can well believe people continue to have more kids. One woman openly told me all her kids had TB while I was standing in her living room and had been having dealings with them for fucking weeks.

I assume its the tower blocks though?

It's Tottenham. Behind the spurs ground.

It was Northumberland Park

MyNewWittyUserName · 29/05/2023 02:22

There's tower blocks at the top near the station and petrol garage and smaller blocks further down.

purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 06:26

It said Northumberland Park estate so whole of that estate (not familiar with it myself).
It did say one of the people they spoke to lived on a not high tower block.

Felt so sorry for Dion's dc. 6 of them in a one bed flat 😭

purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 00:02

I'm unsure why he put the mattress on the floor instead of sleeping on the bed

I assumed it was because he is a tall bloke and when it was on the bed he didn't have room to stretch out.

feralunderclass · 29/05/2023 12:54

I felt sorry for Dion but the more I watched I felt angry with her. It was very pertinent that her bedroom was spacious with no washing lines hanging from the walls. Six people sleeping in a room with washing for 7 people hanging in it is asking for mould, regardless of how great the property is. We need to take individual responsibility at a certain point. Her poor kids 😭

potatoesp · 29/05/2023 12:57

The thing is she had 3 sets of twins.

If she knew the pill didn't work with the first set she had in a tiny flat, why did she think it was going to prevent other pregnancies?

Don't get me wrong, I feel very sorry for her but I feel desperately sorry for her kids who had no say in the matter.

And does that mean they've not done the repairs because they need her to move out?

Probably because she doesn't want to be stuck in a travelodge with her 6 kids with no cooking or laundry facilities.

As soon as I saw the title of the program I know it was a bad idea to watch, the same guy did a documentary where he pretended to be homeless for a while and so now he's pretending to be a resident in a difficult estate.

It's typical that the response to a young mum crying because she is worried about her kids is to come and criticise her even though it was rising damp and not condensation.

I wonder why nobody is criticising the guy with the gun?

purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 16:18

It was pretty shocking seeing that knife and gun
Really worrying
