Did anyone watch this?
Watching it now.
Does anyone live here?

The presenter is a complete pillock. I also wonder how representative the particular people he interviews are. I mean, you're only going to get people on camera who agree to be on camera, right? Most people don't want to be filmed and most people aren't that entertaining, even if they are. What we're shown will be heavily and selectively edited. Both the places featured so far are utter shit holes though - I'd have severe depression if I had to live in a place like that.

JenniferBooth · 05/06/2023 20:14

@maranella Hes a disingenuous twat I only watched the first one. I shant be bothering with the rest

EatingWormsMichael · 06/06/2023 00:16

I started watching episode 2 but can't bear the presenter. His research is hanging outside off licences drinking lager = meet men, visit food bank = meet single mums. That adds up to exactly the picture he wants to paint. This type of programme has been done so much better by other presenters.

This is kind of true actually 🤣

This is why I was curious about people who actually live in these places, if they're actually as bad as they're making out

I hated episode 2. I found all the people shown in it very difficult to sympathise with. Nobody deserves to live in lawlessness or squalor but you could see how they got there

CrackedSkull · 06/06/2023 11:04

That one guy interviewed still hanging around outside off-licences drinking cans . He's 47 he should have grown out of this years ago .

Most people on the type of estates he been interviewing on are decent hard working people. I would say 80% are fine it's just the 20% who spoil it for the rest and give these places a bad reputation. Most houses on these estates have been bought and many of the original tenants have moved on .

MyNewWittyUserName · 29/05/2023 16:59

Thats just how it is. 🙈🙉🙊

That 17yo girl got shot in a drive-by right nearby there not so long ago. We had a gang war the other year too. Between Tottenham, Enfield and Wood Green. Daily stabbings, a few shootings, the news barely bothered reporting it in the end.

No one gave a fuck then and they won't going forward. Sadiq Khan didn't even address it despite repeated requests to do so. That's all died down for now but people being tooled up just is what it is, that won't change.

This is it . Stuff being played down and not reported. London is getting scary with shootings and stabbings an everyday occurrence.

MyNewWittyUserName · 07/06/2023 16:52

Its not even news anymore.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2023 11:00

Just downloaded e1 as this started when I was away

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2023 17:35

I was using contraception at the time and it kinda just happened

3 sets of twins. That's unlucky /rare all natural.

You have 3 kids .twins. Assume new partner and falls preg. You assume will be one child not twins again

But 5&6 wtf

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2023 18:11

Tbh I have never understood why if in sh/ then if have more children why they can't share if b/g over a certain age /is it 8/10?

And why over crowding and have to have w room each

If private rent or mortgage kids have to share if 2 bed and diff sex. End of

If they have another child they have baby in bedroom - not get a bigger house

All 6 kids were cramped into a one bed flat with mum in a horrible damp house. I think a family like that need to be rehoused, the kids would still need to share.

Once again, I love the fact that a program showing drugs, guns and gangs means Mumsnet criticises a young single mum instead of looking at the root cause of the problems.

I hated this program, the presenter was acting like he was entering a war zone instead of a couple of council estates where thousands of people live. He went looking for trouble and found it, Normal people living normal lives doesn't make good TV.

CrackedSkull · 08/06/2023 23:26

On a big council estate in my town they stopped giving flats to young mums and couples and gave them to older single people as people were reproducing to get out of the flats. They were known as breeding pens colloquially.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2023 23:37

Yes obv she shouldn't be in a mouldy room

But why have 4 kids and then get preg yet again after last pregnancy was a failed contraception

You would think be double careful with two sets of twins so 4 kids in a small room when having sex

She was offered to
Leave while it was cleaned - yes we don't know where place was

What is the root problem of a single mother of 6 in a one bed flat? And what is the solution?
I was shocked that she kept a bedroom for herself and had adequate space whilst her 6 kids were in a room AND the washing lines over their heads. She hardly had any mould in her room, I wonder why that was? I'm on benefits myself, so not looking down on her from lofty heights.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 14:15

I thought she was in a one bed place. And all in same room

She said one bed. Tight flat

But I rewatched and said she repurposed her living room as a bedroom for kids - which had the washing in

So yes she could have had the living room for her and kids in the bedroom which has less is no mould

And washing in with her no kids

Said it was a 12yr wait for a 3 bed house

Tho surely moving to a 2 bed flat /house would have been better then one bed

Michelle who had 9 kids tho 3 had left home so 6 at home had a 3 bed semi which she had for a year or so

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 14:18

But as I said before I don't understand why councils give bigger places usually for more kids

If private /rent /own you wouldn't get this and diff sex age kids would have to share

I'm Guessing as living room could be a bedroom that's why she hasn't been moved as 2 bed space

But the mould should be dealt with but she refused to move and wanted a bigger place

It depends on how big the bedroom was .

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 14:36

She had a double bed in it for her so guessing could have bunk beds if need be

Usually can get twin beds or double in a one bed flat bedroom

purpleme12 · 11/06/2023 23:39

According to threads on here you can't use it as an excuse not to take up paid work, but it's encouraged to make you more employable.

Which sounds about right.

Porkipye · 12/06/2023 09:00

She's probably better off not working . How has it come to this though that you are actually worse off by going to work . There seemed to be a sense of deep apathy on this estate , no one seemed to have any ambition. Even the presenter seemed uncomfortable and pissed of at times .

Those houses and flats looked depressing, if they were painted in pastel colours it would have uplifted the area .

Plus no matter how poor you are there is no excuse for living in dirt or squalor.
