THE ARCHERS: does anyone else dislike Will Grundy?

I know he's had a rough time & hasn't actually done anything nasty, but he's really unpleasant isn't he? Smug, & insensitive, & that voice!!! I bet that even if Ed hadn't run off with his wife, Will still wouldn't have given him any of the money.

Or am I being evil & he's actually salt-of-the-earth?

he is a sad little puppy that somehow still manages to make you want to kick him!

mind you, Ed is a nare do well and would have pissed the money up the wall

there is something odd about that woman with will as well......bunny boiler me thinks

scampadoodle · 17/02/2008 14:47

Agree with you absolutely re Ed & Nic. She's definitely up to no good...

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/02/2008 14:50

no, am not keen on Will or that Nic girl - don't really like anyone on the Archers actually !! Why does that child of Shula's have a strange accent btw ?

octavia · 17/02/2008 16:26

well I like him! poor bloke can't do right for wrong. However I cannot stand Clarrie or Lizzie and quite a few others actually !As for Nic I can't help feeling she's going to do something to George ,Ed catches her and that brings Ed and Emma together again

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/02/2008 16:27

yes, agree- reckon she's going to do something bad to poor George..

He's a really nasty piece of work.

MaeWest · 19/02/2008 21:32

Was Will always like that - or did losing Emma to Edwood turn him bitter? I've been listening on and off most of my life but can't remember what he was like before.

Ed always a bad boy obv... motorbike etc

hannahsaunt · 20/02/2008 09:36

Will's money came from an aged aunt in Scotland who died recently. She had forgotten to update her will after Ed was born (or some such story) and so whole lot went to Will. Don't like Will or Nic. He's very smug (surprised that Roy didn't thump him after he offered to rent them the Green) and she's very whiny with a spectacular lack of imagination.

TsarChasm · 20/02/2008 09:43

For someone that listens to the Archer's and says she enjoys it I actually don't like any of them much now I come think about it!

They all irritate me to varying degrees

But yes Will is annoying. I seem to have lost track of this story though. He's obviously heading for another a fall being all smug about the dosh.

Actually I like Matt and Lillian - he's a bad boy and she sounds all ginny.

Eliza2 · 20/02/2008 09:56

Agree about Will. Will is sanctimonious.

Matt and Lillian are the best value--you are so right TsarChasm.

Debbie and Adam struggle from a sense of great entitlement.

David and Ruth are...somehow worthy.

I like Elizabeth when she's in beotch mood and trying to get hold of money/property.

Bobbiewickham · 20/02/2008 10:18

God, I can't stand Ruth.

I just want to twat her. And her sanctimonious eco-warrior daughter isn't much better.

David is a buffoon. Or should that be Deeeevid?

Clarrie is a suspicious narrow-minded old bag.

I quite like Adam's husband - what's his name?

I don't like that woman who was raped, either. Kathy. I felt guilty, but when she was moping around all over the place I just wanted to tell her to get a grip

Kewcumber · 20/02/2008 10:23

I think Lilian is going to shag Mike to get back at Matt.

TsarChasm · 20/02/2008 10:24

Lol Bobbie.... yes agree with you on all of that. I listen to it every evening whilst I'm sorting out the dinner and I huff and puff away about them all, but I still love it.

Threadworm · 20/02/2008 10:24

Mike and Lillian! What a thought! I'm a bit out of touch with the storyline so I don't know how likely it is. But the mental image is shocking.

TsarChasm · 20/02/2008 10:27

Blimey Lillian would eat Mike as a light snack I should think!

I have to record it on Freeview+ because it clashes with bedtime. The bleedin thing starts recording from 7pm, records all teh news then cuts the last 2 minutes of the Archers off! I might be missing events of earth shattering importance.

TheEcho · 20/02/2008 10:33

I still listen but it's not essential listening these days.

I'm so glad that someone else feels the same as I do about Kathy: she lost any sympathy months ago with her whining and self-pitying. I cannot understood what Kenton sees in her.

TsarChasm · 20/02/2008 10:34

Lol that Ruth 'Milks everything for all it's worth' Very good!

Bobbiewickham · 20/02/2008 10:35

God, that bloody anaerobic digester thing!

Who gives a toss?

I hate it when they drop real life rural ishoos in. They lever them in with a crowbar. And the long winded discussions about the pros and cons, all in the interests of balance. You can tell the actors don't actually know what they are saying

I've always thought Mike and Lillian ought to get it together. She'd teach him a thing or two.
