Just catching up a bit. I though Amy Lou was brilliant, and am chuffed she is in the final. Also missed her first performance somehow! (Must have popped out to the garage for something!) So I caught that on youtube. Both songs were from Dreamgirls, and she slayed them, (Listen,' and 'I am Telling You I'm Not Going.')
She has a belter of a voice, and seems like a nice lass, but I am not sure who her target audience would be. Can't see anyone under 45 being interested in downloading her songs/buying her music, and they make up most of the market in music sales.
She is in her mid 30s which isn't hugely old (obvs!) but for her to start a shiny new career in showbiz/the music industry now, (especially with young kids,) would be a challenge. She put me in mind A LOT of Sam Bailey. Very talented, big BIG voice, but not a typical pop star appearance though. I don't mean that badly, and she is cute, but the 'industry' seems to favour females who are size 10 or less, and under 25 (at least when they are starting their career anyway.)
I hope she goes on to great success, but I think (sadly) that even though she is a fabulous talent, (and may even win BGT this year - or come 2nd or 3rd,) I can see her on a cruise ship or holiday camp in 2-3 years. (Not that there's anything wrong with this, and they are good careers,) but I don't think she will be the next Celine Dion/Mariah Carey/Taylor Swift etc etc etc, and won't be picking up any Grammys or Brit Awards.
