In bed with a nasty bout of Covid so have given myself permission to binge 😂

Loved Kerri Russell in the Americans so fingers crossed. Rufus Sewell as the Husband also great casting.

Looking forward to this one, Kerri Russell is great.

Faircastle · 20/04/2023 09:44

Have been looking forward to this...

Netaporter · 21/04/2023 11:02

Well I just finished it. Loved it. Interested to hear everyone else’s thoughts!

Does it drop off after episode 3 and have four filler episodes, only picking up again for the last 2, like every. single. Netflix. show ever?

Faircastle · 21/04/2023 18:04

I've watched threw episodes so far, and I'm enjoying it. I like the way the dialogue is written. I'm trying to eke it out a bit rather than binge-watching it all at once.

Faircastle · 21/04/2023 18:05

Three episodes.
Not sure what happened there.

SomeRolyPolyLittleBatFacedGirl · 21/04/2023 20:53

It all built up to the end of ep 6 the Ep 7 felt a bit fillery but oòoh it ends on an OMG note. That was good.

Netaporter · 21/04/2023 22:47

@VincentVaguer no, I’d say there is a cliffhanger at the end of most of the shows…you do need the character build ups though to appreciate the finale of this season. It was indeed OMG.

I loved it. All of it. Binged it over the last 3 days.

Thought the chemistry between Kate and Dennison was convincing.

The plot interesting. I enjoyed the locations, the camera work, the quirks with how she ate food, etc.

It was self aware.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 22/04/2023 19:31

Ooh so I binged this, worth it for the season finale alone. I really enjoyed Kerri Russell in The Americans, I see she’s an exec producer on this- some influence there of the underground workings of governments running throughout. It certainly has an intelligent edge to it, great cast all round (Celia Imrie fits in perfectly) in v.believable roles. I’ve completely assumed a season 2, based on that ending.

2023usernameNew · 22/04/2023 21:19

Nearly finished the fist episode and it’s going a bit over my head.

don’t understand why they want her sacked after just a day…

will keep going and hopes things will become clearer

rumpsteak · 22/04/2023 21:24

Binge watched it and really enjoyed it. Looking foward to season 2!

Kentlassie · 22/04/2023 21:30

Yes! Currently watching E3.

MotherOfRatios · 23/04/2023 00:08

As someone who works in this world, some of it isn't, but that's to be expected.

The ending though!

notquitesoyoung · 23/04/2023 01:13

It's that kind of terrible but compulsive viewing. Whoever is in charge of continuity needs firing. In the real world the PM in the UK is never referred to as Prime Minister/PM full name or last name - that's how the US President is referred - President Biden. I can't quite work out if it's being ironic or no one British was involved to pick up on things like that. Same sort of feel as The Royals with Elizabeth Hurley.

Me too.

VisionsOfSplendour · 23/04/2023 14:04

Ive watched about 3 eos so far, the plot is too complicated for me to follow but I'm enjoying it however the chirpping crickets background noises on an English evening in the country is piss poor research

jay55 · 23/04/2023 17:05

I've one more episode to go.
Whilst it's nice to see women in positions of power and fun to see the thinly veiled versions of real people. It's all a bit depressing given the state of the world. I think I'm just craving upbeat at the moment.

Viewer23 · 23/04/2023 20:42

Just finished it, enjoyed it. Found the near universal sunny weather a tad unrealistic though!

Viewer23 · 23/04/2023 20:46

Is it ok to discuss the characters and finale or is this a spoiler free thread?

tribpot · 23/04/2023 21:25

I'm on episode 5, enjoying it. Happy for this to become a thread for people who've watched all the episodes, I think @VisionsOfSplendour may have a way to go, though?

Viewer23 · 23/04/2023 22:10

Thank you, I will try to avoid spoilers. What do you make of Hal’s character? He strikes me as somewhat of a narcissist.

Sunnysunbun · 23/04/2023 22:24

I saw Rufus Sewell in a play once and I genuinely thought I might pass because he was just so damn beautiful.
I’m on episode 4 and loving it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/04/2023 22:28

I've given up after the first episode, it's doing nothing for me even the beautiful RS.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought it was awful. Terrible dialogue and some bad acting from actors I usually like. I also hated her character - I'm sorry, but you don't rise through the diplomatic service high enough to be given a major ambassadorship and be under consideration for the vice presidency while loudly proclaiming and displaying your disdain for social graces. The scene where she takes off her gown and lies on the steps of Winfield House did it for me. Verging on manic pixie dream ambassador.
