Cams a joke, he can't do anything because of his job apparently but he can take 4 months out to go on reality TV

Neither his looks or personality are in any way attractive.

Deathraystare · 21/04/2023 12:38

@happinessischocolate

Absolutely and I bet he manages to visit Mummy dearest too.

100% No years! Just noise! "I am so upset" errrrrr nope

happinessischocolate · 21/04/2023 15:21

Just realised that Layton's reaction to the couple swap reminded me of Woody Harrelson in indecent proposal. Except Layton was never okay with it.

Bluetrews25 · 21/04/2023 16:25

Ooof, have just watched all of this week's shenanigans again on All4. Marathon!!
Bronte's been away to have her lips pumped up to look more like Mel's by the looks of the trailer for next week.
I can't see Mel and Layton lasting.

Izzy24 · 21/04/2023 16:36

Bluetrews25 · 21/04/2023 10:37

Anyone else think that Mel's tears and 'hysterical sobbing' seems a bit fake and put on?

I thought she seemed really upset .

toodlesofoodles · 21/04/2023 16:53

@determinedtomakethiswork I don't think they did anything, but the chemistry definitely changed (and I think mostly because she adapted her behaviour to avoid confrontation with him) it's also hard to get aggy at someone who is basically love bombing you (he said about getting her wine, he was making her coffees etc)

I think he WANTED it to look like something happened to make Leyton distrust Mel

Childrenofthestones · 21/04/2023 18:18

Do they still have Panto in Oz?
I think Harrison is lining himself up for 8 weeks of great money playing a villain. 😁

Newestname002 · 21/04/2023 19:00

Drat! I've set myself to watch the next episode tonight (I've been looking forward to it all day) and just realised it's Friday and I have to wait until Monday! (I don't want to skip ahead on the link someone sent earlier). Oh well - at least I can get some stuff done until Gogglebox! 🌹

MelsMoneyTree · 21/04/2023 19:00

Mel was practically hyperventilating she was so upset. If the 'experts' have any professional accreditations it should be starting to look shaky. They know what Harrison is. He should have been put out. In fact, they could have let him and Bronte stay in but said they weren't going to be on camera ... they'd both have left weeks ago.

MaggieFS · 21/04/2023 19:21

I bought Melinda's explanation of why she was so upset. She was sitting there looking forward to Layton returning and then had a producer say 'he's not coming back'. It was a shitty way for the message to be delivered.

I think she should have gone to him first but I find her reaction entirely believable going straight to Brontë to ask "what did you do to him".

And then by the time she saw him to hear the truth she was immensely worked up.

Oh Harrison definitely wanted Layton to think something happened, but Layton realised that when they had the chat at boys night and Harrison was saying they drank wine until 1am, which is why he's not rising to it.

Harrison is stupid though, because EVEYBODY knows that had the slightest thing happened he would be telling everybody about it. He would be crowing from the rooftops.

Nothing happened so all he can do is lie and lie and say they had secret talks that they'll never tell anyone about 🤦‍♀️ I mean, come on, how old are you Harrison? 6? 😂😂

Stressybetty · 21/04/2023 21:13

Don't get the whole Bronte Harrison thing when he asked her about the girls night. He barely said anything while she wound herself up and talked herself out of the whole relationship. Unless it was heavily edited he just sat there, gave her no reassurance about his feelings or affection. Just seems a very cold relationship. Bizarre. Is that because it's basically fake and staged for the camera.

Completely agree.

Absolutely not. That was a 100% genuine reaction from her.

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/04/2023 22:41

This is not a spoiler, but I have listened to some of the podcasts about MAFS and the behaviour of the producers is absolutely outrageous. I wouldn't be surprised if they made Mel wait for several hours so that she was in a real state when he eventually turned up.

Absolutely. I recall him saying they stayed up to 1am talking, knowing if course that’s what Layton and Mel failed to do during and just after the swap. He’s such a tool.

I thought this. She was already tense when one of the production team spoke to her and said Layton wasn't coming back - which is not what Layton had said so of course she was emotional and verbally attacked him when he returned to their room.

Also whilst the "Experts" have spoken to Layton about being more emotionally available have they spoken to Mel about being calmer and more compromising in her interactions with him - I don't remember that? She has a hair trigger in her dealings with him... 🌹

We certainly haven't seen the ixperts say anything yo Mel which really annoys me too. She not only feels that she has nothing to work on, but also uses their comments to attack Layton.
I thought his objection to the swapping task was wholly emotional!! He didn't analyse the pros and cons, he reacted instinctively to the prospect of Harrison and Bronte being brought in to their relationship. Just as Mel did initially. But for some reason she changed her mind. He's admitted that it was because of who they were swapped with but Mel isn't seeing this as showing how he was acting on his feelings!
He shot himself in the foot by trying to use morals as an argument. But Mel wouldn't simply accept his view and "have his back".
to use her favourite phrase he's incapable of putting herself in his shoes .....

RegainingTheWill2023 · 22/04/2023 09:07

she's incapable of putting herself in his shoes ffs

MadamClench · 22/04/2023 09:16

I've got a suspicion that Harrison has an in ear monitor which the producers are giving him lines to speak at, i.e., the last dinner party.

Yes, and I also suspect that what he and Mel allegedly talked about that 'they agreed to keep between themselves' was him telling her he's just a plant being fed lines etc, which is why her attitude to him has now changed.

Villagetoraiseachild · 22/04/2023 10:16

The plot thickens....how much longer left?

KatieKat88 · 22/04/2023 12:39

I think Mel is genuine and I can see flashes of me and my DH in her and Leyton's dynamic (but less extreme) - he tends to be more logical and doesnt like to be 'in the wrong', I'm more emotional and want to thrash out any issues and it can be a pain in the neck for us to see where each other is coming from. I wish the experts would give them proper counselling to help then work through this because they could be good together!

Do you reckon Bronte knows he's a plant?
