Will the boat leave the Dock?
Will Colin turn into a creep now he's single?
Will Gary make it in time to snog all the stews?
Will Daisy ever stop crying?

Roll up for the new series if BDSY.

I don’t think Laura would have been thrown off if she hadn’t made the comments to Margot. If it was just the interaction with Adam I think she might have had a warning but not been removed. It was her reaction to Luke being thrown off and her failure to see the severity of what happened that, combined with the heightened emotions on board and Adam’s comments, got her thrown off. Deservedly so!

longwayoff · 09/08/2023 12:16

I only discovered Below Deck a few weeks ago - my daughter has now cursed me for introducing her to it, she's a few series in already - but. The Guests. The Guests. THE GUESTS. Bloody hell. It's another world.

Orangeglow · 09/08/2023 17:20

I came here to see if there was a thread on the latest series because I’m so shocked! I always thought Luke was a predator, the way he always grabbed Margot to kiss, and that weird ‘close your eyes’ thing be did when he first kissed her. He is awful.
And Laura!! Just WTF is wrong with her! Telling Margot she feels sorry for Luke, I’m just shocked!
Captain handled it well, Aesha is a hero, I’m so glad she followed her gut. Chef was awesome too.

LatteOneShotplease · 09/08/2023 17:46

There is a very long thread on these two episodes on the Below Deck subreddit.
Apparently, Luke is doing quite well these days.
Scum.

lostinfusion · 10/08/2023 09:55

that's awful - I hope the show now coming out bites him in the arse. Has he ever issued any sort of apology?

qazxc · 10/08/2023 10:54

I was a bit surprised at the production team. Why did they not go and get the captain on both occasions where they had to step in?
Aisha was the one that went to the captain and only about Luke as it's the only incident she witnessed. Had that not happened would Luke have been removed that night?
I think if the captain, or Aisha knew how inappropriate Laura was she would also have been sacked the next morning.
Poor Adam was still trying to protect her, not drop her in the shit, minimise her actions because he didn't want her to get in trouble. Despite her appalling actions, I mean the guy could not have been clearer that he wasn't interested.

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 10/08/2023 11:13

I think it’s probably edited a certain way. There could have been conversations between Aesha and the production team about who was going to knock, that never made it to camera. They don’t tend to break the fourth wall so will likely have wanted it to be a crew member rather than a producer. At the end of the day they’re still thinking about making a TV show

qazxc · 11/08/2023 17:11

You're right they probably discussed with Aesha and let her do the scene. But why didn't they tell her " by the way, we also had to intervene and get Laura out of Adam's room as she was harassing him, climbing into his bed when he had clearly said wasn't consenting". If things are that bad that production team have to step in, things are bad enough to inform the captain as he is responsible for everyone on board.

MiddleClassProblem · 12/08/2023 23:41

Omg I’m all caught up. Even knowing what was going to happen I felt teary in places like Margot talking to her family. You know that gross, shameful feeling when you’ve done nothing wrong. It’s awful how many of us can relate to it.

Jason and Aesha’s close relationship is such a rock on that ship. They both are such lovely, empathetic bosses. And it’s so powerful that everything was caught on camera for both Luke and Laura. I would very interested to see interviews with the production team of how it all went down that night. It must have been incredibly stressful. Thank fuck Jason just got him off the boat as I bet producers would have stayed in the hallway all night if he was still on board. The real shudder moment for me was when he was asking her if she was ok and 10/10 as if that was consent for him being there.

Looking at his replacement in the promo is pissing me off. I don’t like him at all. It’s crazy how dickhead men can soar. And just when it felt like there were no more arrogant men on board…

jay55 · 13/08/2023 07:04

I'm on holiday so not seen yet. Did they discuss going to the police? Or was it just him off the boat asap?

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 13/08/2023 09:16

Just him off the boat.

We’re watching Med season 4 and Aesha has shared that she was raped following a night out when she’d had quite a lot to drink. It really helped to explain why she was so alert to Luke’s behaviour and Margot’a vulnerability.

MiddleClassProblem · 13/08/2023 16:03

Yeah I remember her telling Jack. So sad to see how her hackles went up but also so great that she was about to use it for good.

I wonder if the police would do anything? I’m not sure how Oz handles stuff like this.

BlondeFool · 14/08/2023 13:11

What time are the latest episodes available? They are showing up but say unavailable.

I don't think it would be a police matter. The producers stopped him before anything happened and he had a towel around him.

MiddleClassProblem · 14/08/2023 13:38

Yeah, I thought that too.

Eps air in the US on a Monday night so usually drop around 8am on Tuesday for us but Hayu can sometimes have issues!

TitsInAbsentia · 15/08/2023 11:39

Really not happy that Joao (I don't know how to spell it) is back - he wasn't particularly nice, especially to Aesha, poor girls deserves a break not another knob to deal with!

Wasn't he an aggressive drunk too?

MiddleClassProblem · 15/08/2023 12:16

I can’t remember if that was him or Ashton. They looked the same and were both pricks.

Femalefootyfan · 15/08/2023 12:19

Joao had his alter ego called Jezza Bob who was a horrible, mysoginistic drunk. He created a lads culture on board that was really unpleasant.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’s changed at all over the last 5 years.

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 15/08/2023 12:40

As we’re watching them at the moment; Joao in series 3 of BD Med was awful. Better in series 4 though still had moments - odd one as on the one hand he leaped to Anastasia’s defence when Travis slapped her, while also totally undermining Aesha and Anastasia on nights out. Totally sucked up to Captain Sandy. Don’t know if he makes a comeback in series 5, presume not as he was off to be a captain but starting it later so will see!

qazxc · 15/08/2023 12:42

Jaoa was knob when drunk but he isn't the one that slapped the stew unprovoked, that was Travis.
Aesha said that he " bullied me every single day onboard. He never stopped judging me and criticizing me. When we left, you'll notice on the last episode tonight, I didn't even hug him goodbye. I was so sick of him treating me like crap. So I don't know where he gets this from that we left such good friends." I can't remember exactly what he did.

Assuming she means series 4 Med, he found her a bit coarse and unladylike for his tastes and he wasn’t afraid to tell her so. That was the season she got together with Jack. At the end of season dinner when captain Sandy asked for their highs and lows, Aesha said her low point was the interior not getting the recognition they deserve (she was very loyal to Hannah) and he took umbrage that she’d essentially called out the captain and had a go at her.

Having said that, he was a million times better in 4 than he was in 3. Be interesting to see how the two of them get on.

MiddleClassProblem · 16/08/2023 13:55

Joao: I’ve changed a lot in 5 years
Tzarina: He was a dick to my friend 2 years ago

CrushingOnRubies · 16/08/2023 15:15

I know he was a bit of a dick But I seem to remember quite liking João. I remember Capt Sandy really championing. And he had some right idiots to manage like that Jack chap.

qazxc · 16/08/2023 18:04

They are being unfair saying he is lazy, he might not be a dick at times but he isn't work shy.
I remember him having flashes of being OK, like with the slap or the homophobic chef.
