Recommend me a series please?

I'm in need of a new series that has loads of seasons. I like the comfort of sticking on something familiar as I'm working. If it runs to 8-10 seasons that's brilliant.

I've just finished House (hence the username 😆) have also watched end to end call the midwife and Benidorm.

Tried but didn't finish The bold type, Shitts creek and this is us.

Love anything medical and anything gentle, undemanding, aimed at teens/young adults is also fine.

Can anybody recommend me something long please?
Thank you!'

I am researching goodnight sweetheart on itv. Lots of seasons. Still quite funny.

Kingsize · 30/03/2023 22:42

New Amsterdam might fit the bill, although it only has 5 series

Greenfinch7 · 30/03/2023 22:42

I liked Better Things. Single mother of 3 girls, living in LA- a funny, smart, thoughtful, easy-to-watch show with a woman in her 50s as central character

Beaglesonlyplease · 30/03/2023 22:45

I’m going to suggest Succession because it’s awesome but not easy watching..

ZakandSara · 30/03/2023 22:47

The West Wing. Always.

New Amsterdam was my first thought for a medical drama but someone got there first.

Maternal on ITV? Not necessarily completely easy watching but medical and gripping. Only one season.

I guess they’re old now but comforting and familiar and lots of seasons:

How I Met Your Mother - American 20 somethings sitcom. A bit like Friends.

Gossip Girl - American privileged teens living in New York. Gorgeous clothes!

Gilmore Girls - Single mum and daughter drama with lots of dialogue.

ER has a gazillion seasons. We are watching West Wing (on Sky), 7 seasons, 24 episodes each. Very good writing and a genuinely happy set. Amazing how so many scenarios are still hot topics today.

cheapskatemum · 30/03/2023 22:57

Mad Men I watched it through lockdown and still have fond memories of how it got me through it.

underseige05 · 30/03/2023 23:02

ER on more4 or what ever its called now. Im re watchingbfir the 3rd time 🙈 cant rember how many seasons but at least 12

DuneLoafers · 30/03/2023 23:14

Scrubs if you haven’t seen that. Must be 7 or 8 of those.

greenspaces4peace · 30/03/2023 23:14

Amazing Attorney Woo. Netflix, Korean lovely 16 episodes.

Barleysugar86 · 30/03/2023 23:22

Your tastes sound quite similar to mine! Also recently binged through House and Call the Midwife.

If you've not seen it already - The Good Place is amazing. And there are the other obvious amazing series's in Stranger Things and Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul that I loved.

Also loved Unforgotten (ITV) for a UK crime drama. Nicola Walker is amazing and the writing was just incredible.

On netflix and more lighthearted- Working Mums was hilariously written and surprisingly really enjoying Superstore as a comedy.

Grey's Anatomy

I've lost count now but I think they're on about season 20 now. The first few series are brilliant (in my opinion), goes off the boil a little after series 10 but still very, very watchable thereafter.

MavisTheMonkey · 30/03/2023 23:48

I love a medical drama too. I assume you've watched Grey's. I liked the first two seasons of New Amsterdam but think it fell off after that.

The Good Doctor is decent and has 6 seasons (all available on Sky I think) and The Resident is quite good too- 5 seasons on Disney.

The best thing I've binged on recently was a legal drama called The Good Wife- it's from 2009-2016 and it's got a really strong cast of supporting actors- Michael J Fox is in some of the seasons and is excellent.

Also just to echo some of the pp's The West Wing is one of the best bits of tv ever made in my opinion!

DrHousecuredme · 31/03/2023 06:13

I'd love to watch Greys but can't actually find it (well unless you pay episode by episode on Prime) does anybody know where it lives.

Thanks, some fab suggestions here. New Amsterdam definitely looks like my sort of thing. Also going to try Gossip girl, ER and the good place.

Thank you everybody who took the time to reply 😊

Greys anatomy is on Disney+ (along with its spin offs Private Practice & Station 19)

Dozycuntlaters · 31/03/2023 07:04

The good doctor is great

I'm going to have to cave and get a Disney + subscription aren't I? 🤦🏻‍♀️
I've been resisting but so much stuff is on there now.

I should have said, I don't like crime drama type things, not sure if it's the level of focus needed or the fact that I worry too much but not my cup of tea 😆

If you’re going to get Disney+,
Dopesick and the Dropout are very good. Not trying to encourage you or anything!

medianewbie · 31/03/2023 08:25

ER.
15 (+?) seasons.

MissyB1 · 31/03/2023 08:26

Maternal on ITV was brilliant! They really need to make more series.
