Recommend me a series please?

I'm in need of a new series that has loads of seasons. I like the comfort of sticking on something familiar as I'm working. If it runs to 8-10 seasons that's brilliant.

I've just finished House (hence the username 😆) have also watched end to end call the midwife and Benidorm.

Tried but didn't finish The bold type, Shitts creek and this is us.

Love anything medical and anything gentle, undemanding, aimed at teens/young adults is also fine.

Can anybody recommend me something long please?
Thank you!'

The good witch
Chesapeake shores
Virgin river
The good karma hospital
Heartland has about a million seasons, horse based and very undemanding but enough interesting stuff

If you’re going to get Disney+,
Dopesick and the Dropout are very good. Not trying to encourage you or anything!

😆😆😆

Heart of Dixie. This is on ITV so should be free. I don’t think you can beat all the old Miss Marple series, both the original ones from the BBC with Joan Hickson and the More recent ones on ITV.

I am working my way though Criminal Minds on disney+, there are hundreds of episodes!

Mogginsthemog · 07/04/2023 18:15

Disney+ has good stuff on It!
Not actually that long yet but Only Murders in the Building (drama comedy) is great, as is Extraordinary (comedy).

lovemycottage · 07/04/2023 18:15

Gilmore girls
Superstore
Schitts Creek
Downtown abbey

Maternal has been cancelled by ITV so only one season.

How about Damned on all4? Gentleish comedy with Jo Brand about social services so not medical.

oh no! Maternal was definitely worth more series! I’m actually really annoyed about that 😕

I second The Good Wife as mentioned by a previous poster. 7 seasons of brilliant drama, likeable characters, interesting and strong female leads. I’m currently on my 3rd or 4th time of watching it again.

tribpot · 07/04/2023 22:05

Castle on Disney+. Yes it is a crime drama but light hearted with a fantastic cast.

WallPlant · 07/04/2023 22:06

The American version of The Office.

Much better than the British one. Give it a few episodes to get into it's own swing.

PastyMuncher · 07/04/2023 22:08

This Is Us ...on Prime and as previous poster mentioned Mad Men - it's amazing

beguilingeyes · 07/04/2023 22:15

Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul

RedRiverShore3 · 08/04/2023 08:20

You can get Disney+ with Tesco Clubcard points if you have those, I'm watching Brothers and Sisters at the moment and have just finished Revenge, both are good and plenty of episodes.

RedRiverShore3 · 08/04/2023 08:22

Six feet under on Now/Sky is good

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 08/04/2023 09:42

Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Disney+.
Not ten seasons but Only Murders in the Building is excellent.
Same with Virgin River on Netflix.

Hels20 · 08/04/2023 09:47

Virgin River is gentle and set around a local doctor and a new nurse. On Netflix.

Itsgottobeme · 08/04/2023 11:38

Chicago med

I've tried this is us, lost the will to live halfway through season 3 (although I loved the first two) does it pick up again?

Some of these sound like great choices, thank you so much, going to try:
Mad men, brothers and sisters, Buffy and American office.

I have a child free/work free week next week so I'm ripe for some binge watching!

Last man on earth on Amazon prime

Parks & Recreation if you haven't seen it

This country on bbc iplayer

beguilingeyes · 09/04/2023 09:16

Detectorists, After Life

Newestname002 · 09/04/2023 10:09

You've already been recommended Grays Anatomy (I watched the earlier series and loved them).

On TV I've been rewatching the Poirot (David Suchet especially) and Miss Marple also. Very comfortable watching and I like comparing the different actors portraying the lead characters. Suchet's last episode "Curtain" is particularly gripping. 🌹

mewkins · 10/04/2023 17:02

Bump is good (on iplayer I think) and Five Rooms

  • both sort of comedy drama.

I second Better things too.
