I know he's controversial but I do love Frankie Boyle...

Never heard of Sam Campbell. Seen Susan Wokoma in Chewing Gum, looking forward to seeing her.

I hope Lucy Beaumont isn't as irritating as I've found her before.

The other 2 should be good.

I think I must be the odd one out, I really like Lucy Beaumont. Sue and Julian are also fab (I was at the filming - Julian will be heavily bleeped!). I didn't know Sam and Susan but they were both good fun and Susan was hilarious :)

Kiell's face when Alex mentioned how most people would have used the hose 😂😂😂 Best bit tonight I think.

I only know Julian Clary and Sue Perkins but it's not unusual for me to not know more than 2 or 3 contestants.

The glass filling taking was almost uniformly hilarious. Proper laugh out loud. Especially Kiell’s double hose fail 🤣
Potato baby was another laugh out loud/choke on my cuppa moment too.

I didn't see the new cast, as I watched on iPlayer, so glad to see it listed here. How did they introduce them?
I know Julian and Sue only. Already rooting for Sue!

Wish Mae hadn't won, but I knew it was going to happen.

Lots of laugh out loud moments tonight.

I think the music for the copy Alex task was the same as when the series with Victoria CM and Alan Davies et al had to copy Alex in the church.

It wasn't clear in this whether they were just trying to get all the tasks done in the same time overall, or whether they had to do each one in the same time somehow. They could have eaten the banana quickly or done the maths quickly (well, if any of them could multiply!) and then had longer for some of the other tasks.

I thought Frankie and Ivo's lullaby was cleverer and funnier, too, with plays on words, despite also being soporific.

Wonder when the 11-15 Champion of Champions is? But that will mean more Mae. I can cheer for Dara. Or who else is in it? Sophie, she's good. Can't remember the others now.

oh I've now seen a twitter link to the new cast, driving the street sweeper! I wonder if that was a task that got used, or something just for the intro?

Started listening to the podcast with Mae and they say they think they came across as taking it too seriously.

Sue Perkins is one of my fantasy dinner party guests so I'm excited to see how she gets on.

Looks like a task to me. Just like they used the “one man band” task in the trailer to introduce this series’ contestants.

Champion of champions is Mae, Dara, Sarah Kendall (all ferociously competitive and competent - hardly surprising that that sort of contestant is over represented on CofC), Morgana Robinson (will add the much needed wildcard factor), and Sophie Duker, who I don't remember as being quite as gimlet-eyed as the first three - was her victory quite close?. I'm looking forward to it.

That's unsurprising but reassuring. Not familiar with Sam but he is apparently the comedian's comedian - there's normally one standup who I don't know but who makes Ed Gamble's eyes light up and they're normally batshit. I only know Susan from Year of the Rabbit, where she was acting against Matt Berry - so I don't have any sense of what she's actually like.

There are outtakes on the YouTube TM channel of the latest season that make them all seem much friendlier than the actual episodes did. I think the editing didn't always show that so it was nice.

Yes, I think the editing is getting worse? Too careful about what can be said maybe? Although mr F Boyle threw a spanner in the works this season with his superhero slash painting ;)

I'm re-watching Norwegian Taskmaster atm (it's on Swedish telly for me but I think it's available on Youtube). I'm enjoying it very much - got to love a country where the contestants can set fire to stuff indoors and throw exercise bikes from upstairs windows completely mad!

Kongen Befaler is fab though I was disappointed when it transpired that Atle's put downs weren't much of an act. Bård Ylvisaker filled in for him pretty well while he was taking time out, though.

David Sundin might be my favourite foreign (to me) assistant @banivani -his rapport with the contestants is great and he can be surprisingly athletic, when needed!

oh I didn’t know that Pickachew do you have a gossipy link? Is this why there’s no s4 available? David Sundin is v good I agree but on the whole I think the Swedish version has messed with the format too much so it’s not as enjoyable :/

Nvm I did my own work and googled - what an arse but not super surprised really. Surprised I hadn’t clocked there are more seasons! Will have to look them up!

The tasks had already been filmed for the most recent season (season 7) so Bård stepped in as the King in the studio. I think Atle is back for season 8 but I can imagine it would feel a little weird.
