I know he's controversial but I do love Frankie Boyle...

Also, for those who listen to the TM podcast, this week's with Andy Devonshire has really given me the ick for Ed Gamble. I know he's competitive but his constant arguing of the point with the director of the show made me cringe for him.

Ladybrrrd · 20/05/2023 10:47

I absolutely loved the pinapple magnet one! Had me in stitches!

Not getting the seeming majority dislike of Mae. I think they're brilliant. They have their own very dry style of banter which the other contestants get.

Have arranged a finale party - very excited!

ChaoticCrumble · 20/05/2023 16:38

I like Mae a lot but sometimes feel the judges are very 'kind' to her and more inclined to be brutal to the others.

Haven't listened to TM podcast for ages but while I like Ed Gamble, I don't find him particularly funny as a comedian and he was a bit tryhard on TM himself, so that doesn't surprise me.

I've just finished listening to it and I didn't get that feeling from it at all.

KimberleyClark · 20/05/2023 22:26

I think this is the best Taskmaster ever. They have all really bonded.

thebellagio · 21/05/2023 09:14

@KimberleyClark thats interesting you say that. I think they all look absolutely terrified of Frankie. It’s as if none of them dare to give him any chat back because they know he could eviserate them if he wanted.

part of the entertainment for me is when Greg has a go at the contestants and when the contestants give it back - that’s the banter. And it’s even better when they banter between each other like the way that Dara was getting so visibly cross with John Kearns

Mooserp · 21/05/2023 10:39

I am enjoying this series and all of the contestants but definitely don't feel they are all that bonded. Certainly not as much as in previous series.

Seeing them live there wasn't really any interaction between them in the breaks. And Jenny was the only one I remember talking, and addressing the audience. She was permanently chirpy and having fun.

I didn't either. I enjoy the podcast, I think Ed is a really good host. He knows that the uber fans will appreciate him asking the questions.

Dream contestants:

Brett Goldstein
Simon Farnaby
Mackenzie Crook
Stephen Merchant

I’d quite like Prof Brian Cox to be on it too.

Floralnomad · 21/05/2023 10:44

If Brian Cox was on that would be a series I’d have to miss

CaveMum · 21/05/2023 11:19

@KimberleyClark agree about Prof Brian. I drew my list up on the basis that they only have comedians on the main show, everyone else does the New Year Special.

FitterFlapper · 21/05/2023 11:51

I’d love to see a series with Kathy Burke. I’m not sure if she’d count as a ‘comedian’ but Hannah Waddingham would also be amazing, even if just a special episode.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/05/2023 12:47

I've seen the supposed list for the next series and there's one person on there I really like. The others in a bit meh about

I'd also like to see Stephen Merchant on there. Also Stephen Mangan, Brett Goldstein, Tom Davies, Laura Checkley, Siobhān McSweeny, Kathy Bates, Jayde Adams, Adam Buxton,

emmaw1405 · 22/05/2023 14:10

Don't think this has been posted before but guess which Taskmaster contestant is in this photo?

New Taskmaster- anyone watching?
CaveMum · 22/05/2023 14:20

Is that Mae on the far left?!

I’m guessing she must be related to Autumn Kelly?

CaveMum · 22/05/2023 14:25

I’ve just looked it up. Mae is the niece of Daniel Chatto, who married Sarah Armstrong-Jones (daughter of Princess Margaret) so that must be their wedding in 1994 when Mae was about 7.

CaveMum · 22/05/2023 14:27

Should have realised the picture couldn’t be Peter Philips/Autumn Kelly’s wedding as the Queen Mum is in it!

Bimbleberries · 22/05/2023 14:33

wow, wouldn't have recognised her.
That photo looks like an oil painting somehow!

Mooserp · 26/05/2023 07:30

Can you get your money back from Eton? 😄

The 'don't look at or talk to Alex ' task was a great idea. And Kiell not realising which piece of paper to use was hilarious!

I missed the series scores. Is he in with a chance of winning?

EvilRingahBitch · 26/05/2023 07:51

Kiell is 7/8/9? (7 I think) points behind Mae, so it's unlikely but not impossible that he could catch up in the last episode.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2023 08:16

I didn't know you had access to my father's search history!

SoupDragon · 26/05/2023 08:17

with the painting task, was there something that prevented them from throwing/rolling the bottles of paint to the painter?

I think hthey ad to stay on the spot?

CaveMum · 26/05/2023 10:32

Loved last nights episode, the “make holes in the paper” task was brilliant, though I want to know if Mae had discovered something when she looked under the table and found those knobs? I want to think there was some kind of pin template hidden away that they could just press the paper on it and get 99 holes instantly.

I’ll have to listen to the podcast later to see if they give anything away, though I know normally they like to keep anything that is not discovered secret in case they reuse it in another series.
