New thread.

Am I remembering incorrectly, or did they used to have sous chefs doing some of the prepping? I know this had to stop with the COVID bubble year, but I can't remember this much time pressure.... I am old, though, and think that cheesy beans on toast is a proper tea, so I'm probably not the best judge!

EsmaCannonball · 16/03/2023 20:29

I made Nigella's brown butter colcannon. I still can't get the burn marks off the pan.

Wow! So, late, but very high praise!

EsmaCannonball · 16/03/2023 20:31

Stop reminding us of better times!

I digress, but I love Oliver Jeffers' handwriting!

Wolfcub · 16/03/2023 20:36

This pie lifting is giving me a heart attack

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2023 20:38

Pie going ok

EsmaCannonball · 16/03/2023 20:39

Bet Orinoco never found any hispi in the bins on Wimbledon Common.

Surely should have been "The Morrell of the Story". I'll get my coat

Sunbird24 · 16/03/2023 20:41

Could it be a tie but they decided to send them to do 2 dishes each rather than one doing a full menu?

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2023 20:46

Good at canapés and pre desserts

I think that is a possibility but it does seem a bit unfair on previous chefs who've had really strong dishes but haven't got to the final. If they are going to do that, they should do it every week.

Sunbird24 · 16/03/2023 20:48

Oh absolutely @EsmaCannonball

Wolfcub · 16/03/2023 20:49

Could the surprise be that the person who was crappest all week storms through to win

EsmaCannonball · 16/03/2023 20:51

Perhaps the first is a chef winning after being 10 points behind in the heats?

OP posts:
jay55 · 16/03/2023 20:55

I'm disappointed no one has stormed off.

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2023 20:56

Oooh Andie chooses

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2023 20:57

She was best out off the lot I think

EsmaCannonball · 16/03/2023 20:57

Ooh, sorry but I think that Kerry, amazingly, was better on the day.

I agree

jay55 · 16/03/2023 20:59

Agree.

I think Gemma did herself in, taking on too many of the suggestions from the early rounds.

But Kerry's timing would send them all mad.

knittingaddict · 16/03/2023 20:59

So who won?

PrimroseLane · 16/03/2023 22:20

I think Andi made the right decision. Liked the guest judge.

Twazique · 18/03/2023 14:58

Can I just say how much I really like Andi Oliver!

I hope the quality is better next week...

TFMinx · 18/03/2023 16:11

@Twazique I love Andi Oliver! She so warm, knowledgeable and comes across as a genuinely lovely person. She's perfect as the host.
