He was the original fruit and veg stall holder , the Beales owned the pitch so they weren't under the control of the market inspectors to rent the pitch .

(Kathy mentions Gavim who was played by Paul Nicholas , Sharon and Zac's birth father)

Kathy was talking about Peter Beale. Ian's dad.
She was married to him when it first started and they run the fruit stall together
He was Pauline Fowler's twin brother
I had to think about when Kathy mentioned him and I'd forgotten he was once married to Pat butcher ! She was a bit younger than him
She ( Kathy ) then had an affair with Willmot Brown and they spilt up

Actually , Willmot Brown raped Kathy , so me using the word ' affair ' was wrong there
But it did lead to her and Pete splitting up

Pete Beale predates my ‘Stenders watching days but I do remember he was married to Kathy.

Wow was he really married to Pat Butcher?! Was this before or after Kathy?
So Ian Beale is Kathy and Pete’s child, right? Did they have any others?
Apologies again for all my questions.

IIRC, the backstory was that Pat sex working when a very young Pete got together with her.
She claimed she was pregnant and he reluctantly married her. But she wasn't: it was to snare him into marriage.

They had two sons. David and Simon.

Am bit hazy after that. Pat slept around a lot, including with Pete's own brother! Hence a mix-up later, over who was real father of which son(s?).

Kathy came later. When Eastenders started, they just had mid-teen Ian.

And no need to apologise for asking questions! Anoraks like me enjoy answering...

I always thought that Simon or David had a different dad ? I can't remember the details tbh
I had forgotten that Pat was married to Peter once

Pete and Kathy had Ian but Kathy had a daughter (Donna who came back to the Square but died of drug overdose )
Donna was the child born after Kathy was raped at 14/15yo and no-one knew except Nasty Nick Cotton who read her notes when he burgled Dr Leggs surgery ( so Dr Legg would've known too but no-one else )

Pauline and Kathy had a conversation once about Pete and "he was ever so respectful that you waited " (ie no previous sexual partner so he had no inkling about Donna )

Which was one reason why Kathy was so angry and traumatised over the James WB rape , she had been through it all before , but JWB was sent to prison .

Petes brother was Kenny , who Pat had a fling with , then there was Brian Wickes who she married (but I don't know if we ever found out if Pete/Kenny/Brian was Simons Dad )

I know I could just google everything but it’s actually much more interesting to read all the little back stories from you guys - case in point : I knew Pauline and Pete were siblings but not that they were twins. That’s nicely echoed later on with Ian and Cindy’s twins!
I kind of wish I had watched all from day one (and paid attention when watching!) but it really wasn’t on my radar as a teen.
And after that I have only watched it sporadically whenever there was a big storyline.
Maybe I should start by watching all the Christmas Day episodes, there have been some crackers!

In the Classic Eastenders they've just had Guy Fawkes Night 2002
Billy and Little Mo are planning to get married on Christmas Day , they keep saying "Its only 6 weeks "

Trevor ( Little Mos ex husband , abusive ) and Tom (fireman, Sharons fiance ) died in a housefire where Trevor tried to kill Little Mo

Phil has abducted Louise from Lisa and stolen her passport so she cannot follow him from Portugal ( FYI , Phil she can get a new passport )

Christmas 2002 goes horribly wrong for one resident (well more than one , but even though its an old one , no clues )

Felt so sorry for Sam tonight. I'm really liking her at the moment.
