the make up of this year's contestants is really bad. don't they get advice on that?

MichaelAndEagle · 17/03/2023 20:02

I've just caught up..... why would you go to the bother of going on the apprentice and not even do a proper business plan.
Was Victoria just there for the laughs? There are sooooo many people round here selling those things...
Even the better business ideas had poor business plans. Its a shame about Megan she really let herself down. I think she was in with a chance.
They need to change up this format, they must be thinking it themselves.

PandoraRocks · 17/03/2023 20:46

The problem with Dani is that I can't unsee this image.😆

Spot on 😅

MichelleScarn · 17/03/2023 21:20

@PandoraRocks brilliant!!

sweetcornfeta · 17/03/2023 21:25

Hs the Apprentice had its day?

The whole premise seems to be to humiliate the contestants

It's totally out of touch with the way of the world now

Evey year, people turn in shoddy crappy business plans that then get torn apart by sugar's minions

Then he invests a couple of million in one so there must be something good about one of them

Totally unbelievable shite

ReneBumsWombats · 17/03/2023 21:29

I haven't enjoyed this series anywhere near as much as usual, but I don't think it's unsalvageable. They need better contestants and perhaps shake up the formula a bit. I do think the lack of interesting personalities has been an issue this time.

Tapenade · 17/03/2023 21:34

Lack of interesting personalities and not much variety of tasks.

I do think they should ban anyone with a sweets / dessert / baking business next time, though. Or anything else similar to businesses Lord Sugar has already invested in.

Blossomtoes · 17/03/2023 21:35

What they really need to do is get rid of Sugar and Brady. And get somebody with a real understanding of business to devise the tasks.

burnoutbabe · 17/03/2023 21:35

I have watched knock off shows where for example someone goes to work for Diane von furesebug or p diddy. Or organised parties with Lindsey Lohan.

So a similar uk show with say influencer Stephen from dragons den. How to be an ace influencer. Would much more suit lots of the apprentice candidates.

PandoraRocks · 17/03/2023 21:35

Why don't they have older contestants for a change? People in their 40s for example? But I suppose the Beeb would never do that because those candidates wouldn't be as clueless and incompetent so no TV fun value. Dragon's Den is so much better.

Must be a tax dodge!

the80sweregreat · 17/03/2023 22:41

The dragons on dragons den are nice
Even Touker can be pleasant sometimes and Stephen is so constructive with the criticism
They knock socks off the Baroness.

billysboy · 18/03/2023 06:30

It’s really lost it’s way this year

I knew Rochelle years ago when I lived in MK and her business is as she has said. She grew it from a small bog standard hairdressers.
She is also a really lovely person.

Fair enough! I thought her salon was in Manchester, But she is deluded re Belgravia!!

Maireas · 18/03/2023 07:38

Victoria rea

Maireas · 18/03/2023 07:39

Sorry, she really seemed clueless. It was quite embarrassing

Maireas · 18/03/2023 07:41

Why were the business plans so bad?
Why are the candidates so poor?
I wonder if they went for image over substance, choosing the Instagram look, maybe.

BogRollBOGOF · 18/03/2023 07:45

Since it went to being an "entrepreneur", it's become a flawed concept because anyone older and more experienced will be working their way up the slow way. They'll have responsibilities like family that they don't want to pause for 12 weeks, so it becomes more attractive to the younger, overly ambitious and a bit naive types, which makes good car crash TV for the production team.

There must be better candidates with functional business plans to be selected though. I want to see teams winning because they're good, not least shit. Some disaster like green cosmetics along the way is entertaining, but there hasn't been a brilliant victory this year. I can see why teams have limited external information and it exposes skills gaps, but maybe they need more of a "research window" with communications at the planning stage then switch them off. The team/ sub teams need more contact and I'm sure there used to be more calls. In a way, that's a seperate challenge as some of the gobbier candidates would talk themselves into time wasting.

Bring back the variety of tasks too. The conference should be viable to bring back now. Smoozing and selling an artist's work. The hard graft was a good sorter of work ethic for the early weeks with high numbers. Tele sales.

I want to see some intelligence and talent on this show, not people trying to weedle their way into celebrity on pocket money sidelines.

MichaelAndEagle · 18/03/2023 07:51

Maybe the beeb will take heed? We can't be the only ones saying it.

Rowthe · 18/03/2023 11:09

Lets hope they do.

This year has been so formulaic.

So many new products being created, team split- with half doing the branding.

Rowthe · 18/03/2023 11:10

They should do one of those, where they have to choose products to sell at an expo, and a tele sales episode would have been good.

ilovebrie8 · 18/03/2023 11:23

It’s been piss poor this year! The contestant were duds there has got to better applicants than these. Some of the guys were better but they got fired eatlu doors. A few them looked plain weird too much treatments ! Especially Dani I couldn’t take them seriously 😂...it’s needs a re vamp !

NosnowontheScottishhills · 18/03/2023 11:32

"they'll have responsibilities like family that they don't want to pause for 12 weeks,"
I read somewhere that the while thing is filmed over a month not 12 weeks.
I agree that many of the tasks were were all the same create a new product and brand and market it. And as for the you've got tot the cooking for you corprate day out what the hell is that all about. If you were an astute business person you would admit your weakness e.g. cooking fine dinning food and either buy the food in or get a caterer or at the very least say "fuck that I'm not paying £30+ per person just for the ingredients then have to cook the food myself (whilst Im meant to be entertaining corporate clients) I'll get some nice nibbles from Waitrose instead much cheaper".

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 12:01

The cooking it yourself part of the tasks was a pain for them :(
I doubt there is a Waitrose in Dubai for the boat day out , but I'm prepared to be told I'm wrong ! It's a better idea though for the English tasks ( like the one in Shrewsbury etc)
I doubt that most business end up doing the catering themselves.
