I think it’s a mixture of grants and loans.

But to get most of them she must have prepared a better business plan than she had on the show, surely?

Tourist29 · 17/03/2023 12:30

I didn’t even bother watching last night. Should have been Joe and cannon man in the final. As they say on dragons den - I’m out

MarshaBradyo · 17/03/2023 12:32

Grants were mentioned so unless meaning something else I’d say a mix of grants and the BBL

Rowthe · 17/03/2023 12:49

Just caught up.

Every seemed to have a really ad business plan.

I was wondering if Lord Sugar could possibly refuse to invest in any of the businesses at all. Not sure if they just ham it up for the drama though.

I think Marnie is going to win. She seems the most credible esp in vire of all the Grant's that she has secured already.

I dont think Rochelle is bringing anything new.

I think they ham it up for the show,.otherwise it would be obvious who wins.

I think Marnie is the most credible in view of the Grant's she has had secured.

I expect he's contracted to give the money to the winner, but it's not a lot to him and he'll be paid more than that to do the show, otherwise it's not worth doing it.

I'm no good at numbers FFS

I had my mouth open in shock at that.

Asked what the turnover is says 240k.
What is the profit- 240k.

It seems they just get people on the show for the entertainment rather than their business acumen.

Spending 84% of their cash on assets???

£10k on promotion to reach millions???

Opening a new salon every 6 months????

No figures in the business plan, hasnt accounted for labour costs or stock?!🤦🏽‍♀️

No business acumen at all.

Even Marnie- I'm just so disappointed in these contestants this year.

Wow Karen had made 2 of them cry!

I was thinking- Hope Karen has enough boxes of tissues back there

And I thought Lord Sugar was extremely rude and dismissive of Victoria saying to her "Keep it as a hobby". It's not her hobby, it's her business! Even if it wasn't good enough to win his investment, it's still her job.

On You're Fried- she said shes given it up for " new opportunities "

I know this is just an autocorrect error, but I laughed.

@JustDanceAddict I don't know Milton Keynes (the clue is in my user name) she claims she owns an award winning salon over three floors offering training but you can dress anything up to look good if you want too.

I knew Rochelle years ago when I lived in MK and her business is as she has said. She grew it from a small bog standard hairdressers.
She is also a really lovely person.

JemimaTab · 17/03/2023 16:07

I did think Rochelle’s business seemed sound. She clearly has a track record, and I guess that’s why she’s in the final. Belgravia is an absolutely insane idea though - she simply can’t have any idea what the prices are like there. Which isn’t to say she couldn’t scale up in a different way.

Wombats67 · 17/03/2023 17:24

TBF, a lot of the chain gyms work on rent or work basis, so PTs have access to the floor to recruit clients. They can either work classes or pay rent.

It makes it a sales job, not a client-focussed service. So I can see why it was suggested but it's not a model I'd want to follow.

No, I’m sure he has a get out clause and has excellent solicitors - they wouldn’t let him take on so much personal liability. It might be that BBC would make the payment instead. Even then, I’m sure there would be a contingency to account for situations where they refuse to invest.

GLADragss · 17/03/2023 17:36

Rowthe · 17/03/2023 12:50

I think Marnie is the most credible in view of the Grant's she has had secured.

My thing with her grants/loans is that they total over £250k, so she already has access to over £250k in funds and hasn’t been successful with her business. Therefore I’d be sceptical of giving her a further £250k as she already hasn’t delivered with that level of funding.

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 17/03/2023 17:41

When is the final?

GLADragss · 17/03/2023 17:42

I think Marine will win though, you can tell from her social media? Her account just seems more in line with the contestants he has previously invested in. Her brand posts seems more finished, the lighting and styling of her business posts seem coherent and a vision is there. You get a sense of the brand ethos. Whereas Rochelle’s page just looks like her personal account, loads of generic memes etc. Her brand doesn’t seem as developed.

Bounce bank loans were for existing businesses affected by covid. She hasn't even started her business yet, so I don't see how she could qualify for one.

Presumably she's landed a place on Love Island!!!

He'll almost certainly be "investing" through the SEIS tax relief scheme, so can claim quite a decent tax refund on the investment and avoid capital gains tax if it actually turns out to be a profitable investment. Dragon's Den do the same. In "pounds in his pocket" terms, the investment may only "cost" half of what he pays in.

Fizbosshoes · 17/03/2023 19:23

Is the SEIS scheme still a thing. DH is self employed and got a bounce back loan in 2020 and iirc 3 x payments through the SEIS scheme but I'm pretty sure they were in place during covid.

I'm meaning the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, not the covid support scheme.

Fizbosshoes · 17/03/2023 19:40

That's what I thought when she said it. I think you have to started paying it back now as well or you soon will.
