Tales of an average Northern working class street that’s home to three widows of serial killers, including one whose brother is also a serial killer.

I have forgotten about Kelly...i think gary and maria have forgotten her too.

Clawdy · 20/02/2023 21:22

As if Maria would have told Gary about David's move! Knowing how much he hates him, and knowing how he'd react.

MichaelAndEagle · 20/02/2023 22:02

I know right? She really could have just not said anything.

thenightsky · 20/02/2023 22:04

Where did Kelly go? I'd forgotten about her.

Pseudonamed · 20/02/2023 22:09

Never mind where Kelly is gone, why is Nina still there. Jesus christ someone get that girl some acting lessons. I have half an onion in the fridge with more experience.

mattyd · 20/02/2023 22:50

Stu has taken his DD to the cinema! That was one hell of a long film.

DahliaMacNamara · 20/02/2023 22:52

Kelly has left, leaving behind a broken-hearted Aadi. Weren't they going to elope or something? I've completely forgotten why or where she went. Something about finding out Gary was a wrong 'un. But Aadi seems fine now.

eggandonion · 20/02/2023 23:24

I was happy to see Ryan though. Ryan and Aadi are what a former colleague of mine called 'ever such nice young men '.

Bagpuss2022 · 20/02/2023 23:50

Take it the whole Maria David near kiss is excuse for Shona leaving for maternity leave and getting Lilly back it would be strange to have her in London playing football for. A year

This is a massive problem in Corrie and this is why it’s losing credibility and me as a viewer, there is absolutely no realism anymore, in classic main characters are still in the background even if not part of a major storyline, propping up the bar at the Rovers, buying something from the corner shop, passing the time of day with another character, that just does not happen anymore, we don’t see characters for months on end unless they are part of a major storyline, honestly they could sack loads who have not appeared for ages and no viewer would notice or care. The filming is also doing my head in, it looks as though characters are filmed in front of a green screen in the Rovers particularly, Billy and Dee Dee look like they had been superimposed, again it just does not look realistic at all, particularly when there are no extras milling in the background. Coronation street really has become the poor relation to Eastenders, the quality of filming and the use of actors are poles apart. Rant over!

Do what?

I totally missed that!

Beverly Callard talked about this a long time ago.
They cut the screen time and pay.
Corrie changed their contracts to save money and it was devastating for the regulars, she said it caused her depression due to the stress and anxiety.
They just insert people when it's their turn, very disjointed.
Surely Carla will realise she's only ill when Stephen is about!

Helendegenerate · 21/02/2023 10:23

I think it could be Peter who twigs that Carla goes wobbly when Steven is about.
As for Nina in the café yes she didn't complete her acting course methinks. The café itself is very short on café details! A customer asked for mushrooms on toast and a mango smoothie. Take a look behind that counter and there's hardly anything there! Nor does there appear to be a kitchen out back for food prep.
While I'm having a moan the silly "cake run" habit is daft. It was ok decades ago but now? No it's far outdated.

Pseudonamed · 21/02/2023 11:30

Can I point out that the prices in there also have not changed since about 2002...

Thanks I didn’t realise BC had spoken about this, a very bad decision from the powers that be.

lalaloopyhead · 21/02/2023 13:42

I agree about the lack of background characters - I commented recently when watching that it is still covid era in the Rovers, the only people that are ever in there are the characters featured in the scene sititng at a table, and maybe another at the bar if you're lucky - not sure why that warrents 3 bar staff! The place would close down in real life....

eggandonion · 21/02/2023 13:55

I would love to work somewhere with a cake run, preferably to a lovely Bakery. Has costa closed, for about a year people wandered round with costa cups.
Mushrooms on toast and a mango smoothie is an unpleasant combination.
They need bin day, there is always activity on our street on bin day.

Helendegenerate · 21/02/2023 18:15

@Snoredoeurve

That explains a lot because I have wondered for some time whether long term regular actors get paid when they can be absent from the street for weeks/months or only have a couple of lines occasionally. I believe years ago they were retained on huge salaries whether they appeared or not. So we are only getting half the show we used to with the added insult of ridiculous storylines.

Thumbs down!

That curry and rice is still only £3.75 - and I’ve only ever heard one person order it! Why does Roy keep making it every day?!

I agree totally with previous posters about Nina. What school of acting did she come from?. She must be related to someone on television to get that part.

JMSA · 22/02/2023 00:18

Nina sounds like she's being sarcastic even when she's not! Her acting is a bit weird, but she did really well during the Seb attack storyline. She's not had any proper lines for a while now.

It made absolutely no sense for Maria to tell Gary about David's pass. And Shona leaving was all so rushed!

Lorrymum · 22/02/2023 08:46

Watching old episodes its occurred to me that its amount over content. For years Corrie was on twice weekly and 30 minute slots. Now its on for almost 3 hours a week, watered down and badly written. The plots are so full of holes, characters appear and disappear, complete personality changes are rife. Poor Corrie

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/02/2023 11:50

Obviously and understandably Alya is in great shock and struggling with PTSD after what happened to her but her rant at one of the Law Firms clients (regardless of what the brute had done) was way over stepping the mark. When you go into Law you're there for your clients and you have to keep your personal feelings out of things. Perhaps she shouldn't be in this line of work or maybe she should consider working for the prosecution instead.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/02/2023 11:59

Why are they always in Roy's Rolls buying tea and coffee ect. Do none of them actually own a kettle.
Billy saying to was it Glenda or Dee-Dee. " This is a private conversation." Well sorry Billy you can't have a private conversation in a public place load enough for people to hear. You have those in the confines of your own four walls.

Spidey66 · 22/02/2023 20:40

Have I missed something? How come Daniel is working at the Young Offenders?

It's a bit like whenever one of them go to the hospital, Aggie is there, or whenever they need a copper Craig's there, or they need a solicitor Adam's there. Like there's only one nurse, copper, teacher or solicitor in the whole of Wetherfield.

Has anyone noticed you never see Peter Barlow smoking any more? I remember seeing him vaping once or twice but it's never been mentioned.
